COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As temperatures rise, clouds disperse, and feet start craving the sand; the empty cup holder on your Adirondack chair beckons for one thing, Salted Cucumber Farmhouse Ale. Reaching back to the roots of the style, you will find the nth degree of refreshment, transporting your palate to a beachfront cabana. Astute aroma of freshly diced cucumber launches out of the glass, blending elegantly with a smorgasbord of Saison yeast esters, slowly dissipating as it draws you in. Crisp carbonation bounces the cucumber flavors off the palate as it is chased by mild malt and oat character, finishing with an assertive salinity. The addition of French sea salt keeps all taste buds on high alert, convincing you to keep chasing the cucumber. Surprisingly balanced between the sea salt, cucumber, and classic Saison character, Salted Cucumber is the hyper-refreshing ale you want to crush all summer.

On tap at the brewery, Oakland. Pours almost clear golden with small white head. Salty, cucumber, somewhat malty, some citrus, light sourness, light bodied. Simple brew and interesting experiment, not much going on beside the cucumber.

On tap at Good Karma. Pours a fairly clear golden amber with a medium sized white head. Wheat and a soft touch of cucumber, musk. Medium bodied, salinity is present, soft wheat, cucumber is fairly subtle here. Nice interplay of wheat and salt into the finish. Tasty.

Nose of cucumber, light hops. Golden with a nice white fluff. Flavor is burnt malt, cucumber, sea salt, lemon zest, light acidity. Surprisingly long finish of sweet /unusual malt, and some cucs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy App

Very clean and fresh. Don’t like cucumbers in my salad but does ok here. Happy with this one. Got lost trying to find a place to pee and found this nice brewery.

At their brewpub, pours hazy golden with small head that fades into a ring, not much lacing. Nose is fresh cucumber, watermelon rind, and light earth. Flavor is salt, cucumber, dry hops, and green earth. So refreshing and well executed

I really think this one worked, but I love cucumber. Very very refreshing nose and flavor. Cucumber essence and fruity zesty saison yeast. A little dry in the finish. Shoulda brought some home. On at Fieldwork.

On tap @ Fieldwork. Turbid orange beer with a finger of white foam. Notes of cucumber soda, some salt, lemon juice, and acidity. Despite having a Saison yeast strain, don’t necessarily get a lot of the typical ester or phenol character. Maybe more of quick/half sour pickle and some sweetness.

Draft. Golden beer with a whitish head. Tart and light salt aroma. Cucumber/vegetal flavor with light salt and light tartness. Medium bodied. Vegetal cucumber lingers with light salt and light tart.

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Slightly hazy pale yellow with moderate white head. I didn’t get much of the cucumber here at all, and also lacked some of the characteristic gose qualities. All in all it was a nice beer, but not too complex or what I expected.

bytemesis (9327) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 5, 2016
Tap. Pours hazy golden, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma is salty, citrus, yep, cucumber, wheat. Flavor is light tart, definite cucumber but not as off-putting as I had feared, sea air, citrus. Light body. Note bad, actually.
