COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the Jack London short story, Sea Farmer contains salt from the very waters its protagonist navigates in the Celtic Sea. A fair amount of wheat, along with the sea salt gives Sea Farmer a hazy appearance and atypical opacity. We use strictly Cascade hops to play off of their grapefruit-like qualities, then spent the better part of a day zesting grapefruits to throw in with the dry hop. Sea Farmer hits the glass with a beautiful marriage between salinity, hoppy, and grapefruit; no one component overpowering the others.

On tap at City Beer. Pours a hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Bright grapefruit on the nose, a hint of hay. Medium bodied, soft greenness, fruit, grapefruit. Slow grapefruit bitterness into the finish. Salinity is never really noticeable.

On tap at City Beer, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out citrus hops, some dankness, light saltiness and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is loaded with salt, citrus hops, ample dankness and just enough dry biscuity malt to back. Nice incorporation of the salt makes this a unique IPA. Very good.

[2/2/16] Draught at Zeitgeist in San Francisco. Clear golden. Nice red grapefruit aroma. Dry flavor, bitter, slightly tart, with red grapefruit and hops. Medium-bodied.

I don’t know if the sea salt makes the grapefruit pop even more or not, but it sure seems like it. HUGE grapefruit aroma - maybe not as complex as some of their other hoppy stuff, but oh so delicious. Decided on this as my growler fill after a hard half hour of talking to myself. If you love GF Sculpin, there’s no reason you wouldn’t love this. Fresh off the tree.

Grapefruit sculpin on steroids. Unreal grapefruit aroma, smells like grapefruit essential oil. Taste backs it up. Heavy grapefruit in an IPA package balanced with malt and alcohol. Great round mouthfeel. Unlike any other fruit IPA on the market.

On tap @ Fieldwork. Clear gold in color with a small white head. Really intense grapefruit nose, but actually kind of sweet. A bit like grapefruit candies. Somewhat tangy, lightly salty, and just very fruity overall. A light grassy and pithy bitterness to the flavor. Minimal malt flavor to this. Maybe a hint of stone fruit. Just a ton of fresh, juicy, red grapefruit. Well done.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit aroma. Red grapefruit flavor with salt. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Red grapefruit and salt linger.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pour gold with a white head. Slightly hoppy aroma. Med body or better. Flavor has light salt, lots of hop - citrus zesty and some fruit notes. Hints at dank. A bit different (salted IPA?), but nice.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours golden with a nice off-white head and aclight fruity aroma. There is a hearty pale malt flavor that is all grapefruit with a dry finish.

Old tasting notes from the summer. This was on tap at Gourmet Haus. Hazy with sustained white head. Grapefruit offers a very solid approach to this style, and gets it right where a lot of this style loses the plot and becomes puckering and undrinkable. Faint saltiness balances well with the citrus for a very pleasant and easy to drink beer. The ABV is completely hidden in this pleasurable beer.
