Aromas of chocolate, bourbon, barrel wood, spice, herbs, earth, toffee, mocha and licorice. Pours black with a noticeable brown foam. Taste brings bourbon, chocolate, oak, toffee, espresso, cocoa nibs, chocolate powder, coffee beans, mocha, vanilla and tree bark. Overall, as expected from the Eclipse series. Extremely decadent chocolate flavors combined with incredibly smooth bourbon. A rating.

Sample at SBWF. 2014 bottle. Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is quite sweet with chocolate, bourbon, oak and roasted malt. Dry and rather bitter finish.

2014 version, thx H! Shared by all on the Wedding Weekend during the wedding night tasting. Very dark brown pour. Big whiskey and caramel nose. Some roast added in the taste, but the whiskey is much more assertive and flavorful than the Four Roses version, which truly is the key. 15.8

22oz bottle 2012 purple wax, pours brown black with a finger of offwhite head. Nose is light roast, nutty vanilla, baker’s chocolate, dark fruit. Taste is medium bodied, dark fruit and licorice with nice vanilla, nutty cream, soft roast chocolate. Finishes dry with medium bitterness, nutty roast, dark fruit, subtle vanilla cream, dark chocolate. Solid but I’ve yet to be "wowed" by any Eclipse variant.

2012. Big bourbon nose, almonds, marzipan, coconut, butterscotch, licorice, vanilla with a woody nose, bourbon completely dominance and a weak chocolate but more towards barley-wine maltiness enters the nose. Taste is a bit chocolate upfront, but shorly after big vanila woody notes, quite sweet, but not that extreme taste or mouthfeel. Solid, but a bit of a disappointment.

Bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is light roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, bourbon, wood and vanilla. Flavour is sweet and light bitter. Full bodied, thick texture, soft carbonation. Finish is long, slightly burned and nice balanced barrel character.

Pirch black with a small head. The bourbon hits the nose right away! Wonderful flavours on the nose! Oak, bourbon, vanilla! The taste is sweet, some tartness. Loads of bourbon! Very very nice!

Zwart bier met een mooi licht bruine schuimkraag. Ruikt iets alcohol, vanille, geroosterd en koffie/chocolade. Smaakt vanille, koffie, chocolade en geroosterd. Lekker dik.

2012 Vintage. Almost black, a bit redbrownish with a small beige head that covers the surface. Aroma is mostly sweet, brown sugar and bourbon dominate. Taste is sweet at first, then roasted with dark chocolate/hot cocoa, peppery, bourbon notes that doesn’t over power everything else, some alcohol heat. Surprisingly bitter. Full body, low but very present carbonation, smooth and round mouth feel. Long bitter roasted after taste with alcohol heat.
