COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This entry serves as the core listing for all Imperial Eclipse Stout vintages aged in rye barrels. These include:

2014 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version (Forest Green Wax 2014)

2012 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version (Green Wax 2012)

2011 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye Version. (GREEN WAX w/ "2011")

2010 Vintage:
Rittenhouse Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2010")

2009 Vintage:
Heaven Hill Rye version. (GREEN WAX with "2009")

Original batch was just 2009 Rye barrels sourced from Heaven Hill. For the 2010 release, Todd delved deeper with the barrel provider and found his barrels (and previous barrels) to all be Rittenhouse barrels. Hence, the alias.

Bottle @ The Lost Tasting Of Abbey Beers, late edition, Odense 2013. Black with a lasting tan head. Big aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, ink, ash and alcohol. Sweet and full bodied flavour with chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, vanilla, bourbon, charcoal and vinous alcohol. Great balance and intensity for a Super strong and sweet black beer

Pours used motor oil black with an an aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and some roast. Complex flavor with vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and bourbon. One of the better I’ve ever had.

Bottle at City Beer, February 2014. Black with a small tan head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, caramel and some whisky. More whisky in the taste, also oak, light coffee and chocolate. A smooth one to drink. The aftertaste was long and with some warming alcohol. An excellent beer.

Bomber shared at Folty’s. Very dark inky brown pour with a spotty head. Awesome aroma and taste of bourbon and wood. I’m picking up a hint of red wine as well. Slightly dry on the finish.

Tasted as Rittenhouse Rye Barrel 2011 No head left, black beer with deepbrown sidelining. Rich alcoholic/chocolate/stout nose, superb whisky aroma, intense vanilla. Sweet, vanilla, wood, full chocolate, cocoa powder, young oak. Sample gone a bit lame, alcoholwarming, fully viscous. Rye, it seems - if one had said Bourbon, I’d have believed it too. Many thanks to M & L V.!

Bomber @ FiftyFifty Charity Tasting: Vintage 2012: Served in a taster: Black body with creamy tan lacing. Aroma is roast, paint, tobacco, light bourbon, meat, soy... Later on it becomes so much better: beautiful roast, bourbon, vanilla, liquorice... Flavour is molasses, brown sugars, roast, bourbon, light vanila, light pudding, light dry, light molasses... Aftertaste is roasty, bourbon, coal, vanilla, fudge... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, very close to full bodied.

Like a dark chocolate whisky-infused praline in liquid form. Not in the mood to write a long review, but this is love.

Hophead and his insane connections brings this awesome beer almost before it’s released. Thanks Shane! Some booziness. Some chocolate. Lightly sweet. Very good. Black color. Nice barrel characteristics.

Woodshop. Thanks cloudskipper! Pours a black color with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet and delicious. A beautiful bourbon aroma blossums with chocolate and coffee and a great roasted note. Flavor is smooth and slighlty sweet with a nice bittersweet chocolate and roasted malt keeping things in check. Great brew.
