Pour out of 750 mL bottle, 2011 version, Darkness Day 2012. Thick oily black pour with dark tan head, aroma brought big notes of dark chocolate, sweet caramel, toffee, caramelized sugars, hints of roast and coffee but going right into sweet brandy, candied dark fruits come through as well. Taste is a mix of sweet candied dark fruits, brandy, some slight oak and spice into hints of vanilla, sweet chocolate, whiskey notes, slight roast and coffee is overwhelmed at the end, but still very tasty. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Bottle #2616...Pours black with ruby hues and a thick tan/mocha head. Aroma milk chocolate and some nice roast with mild fruity brandy notes...some dark fruit and booze. Flavor has notes of coffee, chocolate, and a note that lends itself to cognac more than brandy...touch of roasty oak. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky with a slightly sweet/roasty fruity warming finish. Very tasty! johnnnniee (4374) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 7, 2013
2011 vintage from secret Santa Alex M, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a solid black with a nice sized tan head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top with a moderate amount of lace on the sides. Smells of roast and chocolate with a heavy hit of molasses and dark fruits. Cherries, plums, raisins and a touch of alcohol round out the nose nicely. The flavor is lots of milk chocolate and coffee with a hint of smoke. Subtle supporting flavors of vanilla, dark fruits, tangerines, and a hint of wood. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet silky mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this eclipse version. The Brandy gives it a much softer barrel treatment than the bourbon barrel I last had. bb (9690) - Alamo, California, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Bottle. 2011 #2921. Black beer with a brown head. Big brandy aroma with rich malt and light chocolate. Rich malt and toffee flavor with light chooclate and brandy. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee and caramel linger with light chocolate and brandy. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 30, 2012
2011 bomber. Poured near black with a short, smoked beige head. The aroma picked up sweet toasted chocolate, vanilla, and cocoa with sweet vinous accents.. some warmth to it, and great overall balance. The flavor found cocoa, dark chocolates, and cherry-kissed vanilla at the core, with black pepper and spicy oak on the edges.. finished with warm vinous notes and chocolatey boozage.. loved it! Heavy-bodied and silky through the palate with great balance.. wish I had more of this.

Split a bottle of this with Paul yesterday.
The beer is dark brown, nearing black. Half inch of dense beige head. Looks like all of the other Eclipse stouts.
The aroma brings oak, booze, chocolate, roast. Smells nice.
The flavor is a small step up from the aroma. I would probably award aroma and taste each a 4.25 if possible. Nice balance of flavors, with a gentle sweetness imparted by the brandy barrel. Subtle notes of vanilla.
Medium bodied and easy drinking. A touch of heat in the finish. Well done.
Overall, another solid stout from FiftyFifty. I have enjoyed all of the beers in this series so far.

Surprisingly this has a somewhat frothy, beige head. Very little barrel coming through here, when compared to other b.a. stouts. Rather some fruitier notes like blackberry. Even some licorice toffee to be found. It’s very nice. The mouthfeel is wonderful. Starts sodaish but gets mellow quite fast. It stays this way throughout - creamy, oily and coating. The finish is sugary and malty with a little extra omph from the alc. Would like to try more.. MotherBrother (945) - Aalborg, DENMARK - DEC 28, 2012
Pour black, with a very thin brownish hue, and a huge light off-white head.
Aroma of roasted malts, drak fruits, caramel, slight vanilla, some wood, slight boozy sweet notes. Plenty of goodness in this one. Taste is pretty sweet upfront, with some faint roasty notes towards the end.
Semi-full body, with a perfect amount of flat carb. Big thanks to The Ryan for sending me this. Ratman197 (15105) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - DEC 14, 2012
Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of brandy, cocoa, carmel, oak, light roastiness and light licorice. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of brandy, dark chocolate, oak, roastiness, carmel, light fruittiness and light licorice with a smooth lingering chocolate brandy finish. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 8, 2012
2011 Vintage Huge black pour with a monstorous brown head w/ great lacing. Big aroma sweet, boozy, dry malty, a fair amount of oak. huge well coated palate rich and creamy. Delicious big sweet malty flavor hints of oak and vanilla a touch of booze, not sure I would call it brandy other than the sweet finish. Complex and rich. Very delicious.
