650 ml bottle. Pours a dark black with a small tan head that has good retention and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is bourbon, chocolate, oak, some light coffee, some vanilla, and a bit of roastiness. The taste has a light sweetness with chocolate, bourbon, light coffee, some roastiness, and vanilla. The finish has decent alcohol and a bit of bitterness. Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Not bad, but certainly not the best of the Eclipse variations. It seems to have quite a bit more alcohol presence than the others.

Black with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted coffee, bourbon, slight green pepper notes, dark chocolate, hints of dried fruits, vanilla and slight boozy. Taste is quite intense, sweet and roasted with a slight boozy bourbon finish along with sweet toffee, fruity hints, roasted coffee, chocolate, hints of vanilla. Medium to full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation.
Backlog from Bro in law’s wedding weekend! Pours almost black with a small tan head. Aroma has a lot going on, no signs of any of the negative effects of aging. Aroma is sweet chocolate, bourbon, oak, earthy soaked wood chips, baker’s chocolate. Taste is complex, mellow, smooth whiskey notes, oak, vanilla, earthy notes, light spice, velvety body, some mild burnt malt, medium roast coffee. This is fantastic. Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque black color, average to medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, bourbon and whiskey influences clearly, light vanilla and slightly alcohol. Taste malts, dark sweet raisins, bourbon, dark malts, slight sweetness, some alcohol and malt bitter mixed perfectly with the sweet bourbon. Pours pitch black and completely opaque with a half finger beige head that quickly fizzles into a thin ring. Minimal spots of lace left behind.
Complex aroma with the barrel character nicely integrated into the characteristics of the base beer. Some spicy bourbon but the spirit presence is pretty mild with lots of oak, vanilla and toasted coconut followed by hints of chocolate cake, fudge, toffee, toasted malt, oatmeal and coffee bean. Not overly roasted, however, with lots of chocolate sweetness and barrel. Smells like an oaky, bourbon filled chocolate dessert.
Medium bodied with a stronger barrel presence than the aroma suggests. There’s still a substantial malt backbone but it’s slightly overpowered by a strong dry, toasted oak presence. Similar to the aroma, the spirit is somewhat tame with lots of dry, earthy wood followed by very subtle marshmallow and coconut notes. I wish there was more of this and the spirits used in the blend but these elements are drowned out a bit by the wood. As it warms the boozy sweetness becomes a bit stronger and the malt backbone comes more to the forefront. Lots of dark roasted malt flavor balanced by chocolate dessert like sweetness. Hints of burnt toast, coffee bean and oats followed by toffee, caramel and fudge-y chocolate. Some boozy heat in the finish making this variation a bit tougher to drink. Still, it’s pretty easy for me to drink. I just wish it was a bit more complex and had more balance.

Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a medium, creamy, beige head. Aroma has sweet malts, tar, red wine, coffee, dark chocolate, port, oak. Low carbonation, fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Bottle from the rot box. Nose is moderate with dried raisin, fig, plum, some dark cocoa, moderate booze, vanilla, slightly hot. Deep black pour with a tan head. Minimal carbonation. Taste is a luscious decadent smooth chocolate covered cherry skin. Some light sherry notes but faint. Some light tobacco notes but very smooth and rounded. Pretty damn good and held up well. + Surprisingly still bursting with coffee even after 4 years in bottle
+ Packed with a lot of flavors and while it’s not 100% cohesive, it’s definitely quite complex
+ Rich palate with a full body, a thick and oily mouthfeel that seems even thicker because of the low carbonation as well as a nice warming (borderline burning though) finish
− A bit hot and messy even after four years in bottle
− Nothing really stands out with this one, so it ends up being one more tasty but boozy RIS like a ton of others
Flavors: Coffee, bourbon, dark chocolate, wood spiciness, caramel, alcohol, vanilla, red fruits (mild)
The nose has coffee, licorice, chocolate powder and lovely oak. Taste: samesies but with really dark fruits bordering on oxydiced sourness / vinous plum juice and keeps lingering on in the same way in the aftertaste. Love the nose! Tak Morten & Svend!
