Like the other variants, black in color with minimal head formation. Lots of roasted malt and almost a mild char. Quite a bit of vanilla and whiskey. A fair amount of booze but some nice chocolate and molasses. The flavor is a bit heavier on the roast and char than some of the other varieties. Not all that much sweet malt flavor or spirit. Some whiskey and booze with moderate vanilla notes on the palate. Good, but not the best from the series. Benzai (15926) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JAN 22, 2016
Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque black color, average to medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, bourbon and whiskey influences clearly, light vanilla and slightly alcohol. Taste malts, dark sweet raisins, bourbon, dark malts, slight sweetness, some alcohol and malt bitter mixed perfectly with the sweet bourbon. Soft velvety texture, medium to full body, soft carbonation. Delicious! bhensonb (15347) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 16, 2012
Bomber shared by Marcus. Purs very black with a few tan bubbles. Warm caramel and dark fruit aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is smooth, oaky, caramel, dark fruit and dark baking chocolate. Bourbon and vanilla? There’s so much going on that I’m not sure about those. Heat is hardly noticeable. This is a great and mellow beer. djd07 (15107) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 5, 2012

Bottle (#976, 2011), thanks to Ken at THE Eclipse tasting, 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a thin bubbly beige film. The nose is bourbon, oak, vanilla, toasted coconut, smoke, charcoal, toast, salt and caramel. The taste is roasted malt, toasted, charred wood, tar, toffee, toasted coconut, some astringency, salted caramel, liquorice, lactose, subtle dark fruit, and milk chocolate cake, with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, fine-moderate carbonation and chewy mouth-feel. Bold, yet well balanced. One of the better Eclipses of the evening.
