Bottle, 2014. POurs hazy reddish orange, small beige head, dissipates quickly to bubbles, some lacing. Aroma is loads of oak and vanilla, bourbon, toffee. Flavor is full sweet, light plus bitter, mega oak and vanilla here too. Bitterness cuts the sweetness enough to make it drinkable, but its still a sipper. Medium body, fairly light signs of the booze inside.

Bottle shared with happyhoppy from Healthy Spirits, San Francisco - CA. Color: clear golden amber brown beer with golden reflection, no carbonation and small ivory head. Smell: toffee and caramel notes. Sweet hoppy and caramel malt. High alcohol domination. Rich bouquet as butter, nuts and butter cake. Taste: high body, really sweet and some oily sensation. Really amazing. Good caramel and sweet butter cake taste. Well balanced with a hoppy blast and dry bitterness. Good attenuation with nuts and toffee. Finish as alcohol but well balanced. Aftertaste: caramel and toffee, nuts and wet bitterness. Alcohol. Amazing!

Enjoyed at an all barley wine tasting at Traviss house on February 21. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a reddish orange with a small film of white head and no lace. The aroma is strongly woody with hints of caramel and vanilla. There is a strong malt sweetness that carries it to the back end. The flavor is sweet and malty, but there is a strong pungent alcohol that I feel could be ignited. There is a nice vanilla and malt, but the alcohol burn will not be denied. The mouth feel is decently thick with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly soapy bitter boozy aftertaste

Bottle split at Jack The Sipper leaves for the FBI again tasting, thanks to Kenwold for this low boost (by his standards) offering, 14/07/15. Very lightly hazed orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is woody, bitter tropicana shreds, spruce, orange, light spice. Taste comprises a rich dark fruit enclave, hoppy bite, barrel tones, toffee, cake mix. Medium + body, oily feel, bitter tropicana and a drizzle of booze in the close. Xolid gear ... really drinkable stuff!

Bottle shared in London during Jacks long goodbye. Big thanks to K-bird for this b-wine; where does he get this stuff? What a guy.

The beer pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose is rich marmalade, bread, wood and grain. Big sweet flavor with lots of jammy citrus, pale grains and alcohol. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Hot finish, big and sweet, with sugary ripe citrus, bitter pine and grass. A bit punchy for sure, but nice in small doses.

Farewell Jack bottleshare at Craft Clerkenwell. Very hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Airy dry creamy malts. Light wood and bitterish toffee. Little spice. Well integrated fruity bourbon. Airy semi dry finish. Quite a low abv for BA barleywine but it is still a bad boy and a thoroughly entertaining one.

Bottle thanks to Mr 18K Kenny. It pours cloudy deep amber with a medium beige head. The nose is very rich, dried fruits, banana bread, fruit cake, raisin, candied orange peel, stewed peach, earth and nougat. The taste is rich, woody, earthy, leather, vanilla, toasted coconut, massive hit of bourbon, toasted toffee, fruit cake and spice with a slick, warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Too hot right now, but still rather enjoyable.

Bottle share at CBC Clerkenwell. Many thanks to Ken. Orange, a little hazy, still, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is cakey, twiggy, toffee-ish, ethanol. Body is medium, a little foamy, no real carbonation. Taste is syrupy, honey, toffee, earthy rye spice. The sweetness overpowers any bitterness there may be lurking in the background. Nice enough.

Bottle @ The Clerkenwell Share. Thanks to Kenneth. Medium amber pour with a pretty small white head. Toassted grain and caramel. Grape nut cereal. A touch of herbal hops. Taste is pretty damn hot. Glazed donuts and nougats. Pretty nutty. Boozy hot finish. Pretty hoppy. Drinks much bigger than the ABV suggests. Full body, oily Probably needs a bit of time to cool down. Still, theres a lot to like here.
