I’ve had this (base) beer a few times as well as a couple barreled incarnations. I think it’s a solid, not spectacular, entry into the BSA catergory. Definitely fruity and sweet, with alcohol, plums, spicy yeast and toffee shining through. A little rough in this form, but still really good, and lends itself to barreling well." On tap at the brewery. Really nice deep amber color with little to no head. Aroma was Belgian yeast, brandy, booze, dark fruit, raisins. The flavor was brandy, boozy, hot hot hot. This one warmed your throat all the way down. The booziness was a bit over the top and sort of killed any subtle flavor the yeast may have been contributing. Amazing potential, but way way too boozy, even for a 10.5% beer. timfoolery (1126) - California, USA - DEC 16, 2012
On tap at FiftyFifty. Aroma was of brandy, litter box, and dark fruit. Flavor was rotten plum, litter box, and cloying brandy. We returned this for BART, as it was just undrinkable. Please, get rid of this and never bring it back.
