COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sustenance to get you through those long, cold winters, the Donner Party Porter is another of FiftyFifty’s flagship beers. Reminiscent of dark chocolate, espresso, and dark dried fruits with a long complex finish, this beer is good for one of those nights where you’ve dug yourself into a snow bank because the ski trip didn’t go quite as planned. Deep brown with mahogany highlights, the hops and malt are very well balanced leaving one to contemplate the myriad of flavors as the beer warms. Moderate to slightly heavy, this beer is heaven in a glass.

Tap @ Hops and Pies Denver during FiftyFifty tap takeover. Pours a deep brown appearance with a cream/tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, mild coffee, and a bit of piney hops. Pretty easy drinking, roasty chocolate malty flavor with a touch of anise and vanilla. Not bad.

Tasted at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. Good flavors, close to style, as expected without too many surprises.

Tap. Pours hazy chestnut, medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, cocoa. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, roasty, coffee, but of ashtray. Medium body, low acidity. Porter done right.

Old notes, on tap last summer. Dark brown with highlights around the edges, good lacing from a small off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, light coffee tinges, dark fruit, a little anise. Taste is very nice, roasty, dark chocolate, raisin. Smooth mouthfeel, just right carbonation, long dry finish. Very impressive porter.

"another enigma...huge aroma, full, robust, coffee and chocolate with a hint of hops at the end. roasted, balanced flavor...then no follow through. the body was a touch thin, especially after the magnitude of the aroma and flavor, but the lack of finish was a bit surprising. still a good porter, though."

Strong chocolaty coffee aroma with mild sweetness, some alcohol. Pours black with lasting brownish creamy head Roasty coffee chocolate flavor with bread an light caramel. Alcohol Medium full bodied with medium Co2, alcohol warmth. Enjoyable porter. I like the alcohol presence but seems like it might be overbearing after a pint. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Loved it, especially with my new interest in porters. Strong coffee, chocolate and dark fruit flavors with a nice sweetness.

Draft at brewery. Nose is coffee and dark chocolate with some sweet sugary notes. Taste is a harsh graininess that is borderline burnt coffee with a residual sugar sweetness to it. Interesting, but not one I would buy a pint of.
