Bottle. Poured clear dark brown with a moderate frothy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted, woody, vanilla and caramel with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.
Poured from a 22 oz bottle, #47. hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 1, 2016
Aroma is a bit oxidized with some honey notes, but there is also quite a bit of chocolate, roast, dark toffee and caramel. Hints of raisin, fig and prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon character.
Pours black with some dark brown hues and a medium large, thick, creamy, light mocha head that recedes slowly to a thin film that sticks around on the edges. Light lacing and moderately small legs.
Flavor is fairly sweet with quite a bit of dark caramel and dark toffee. Also fairly strong chocolate and roast notes with hints of toasted bread. Light to medium light honey notes. Medium light bitterness. Light raisin and fig notes with hints of prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon notes and some light alcohol spice.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low but present alcohol warmth.
Overall, a nice beer, but it is reaching the end of its life; if you have bottles now is the time to drink them. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but its also pretty creamy and silky so that makes up for it.
22oz bottle. Bottle marked 111 (2012). Dark fruits, some chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar sweetness, caramel, and bourbon. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - APR 13, 2015
bottle thanks for Dak, thanks man! Tons and tons of molasses, honey, and dark sugar syrup. Tasted like a jar of barrel aged molasses! I was very tempted to unICE it with my water glass. Lots of flavors in there but i can’t get past the rampant sweetness. It’s hurting my teeth. hallinghansen (3430) - Odense SV, DENMARK - FEB 14, 2015
Trade from Sean9689, thanks bro. Dark brown body with a small offwhite head. Aroma is sweet caramel, dark fruits, light alcohol, brown sugar, sweet bourbon, oak, some vanilla notes. Flavour is sweet caramel, molasses, light alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, chocolate. Carbonation is soft. This is a fantastic sipper. Thanks Sean. mcmd (315) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 15, 2014
pours dark brown nearly black, minimal head. Great aroma of bourbon and vanilla, chocolate. Taste is rich vanilla, oak, bourbon, dark fruit. Eclipse definitely plays a role here but this has a slightly different sweetness owed to the ice treatment. Quite enjoyable, glad I let this one sit a bit. Drinking incredible at this point.

bottle at home.Pours deep brown mahony amber with nearly no head. Intense bourbon vanilla nose, together with caramel toasty aromas and flavours. Mellow body, a tad of alcohol heath, but all well integrated... a treat! djd07 (15651) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 22, 2014

Bottle 22fl.oz. @ [ (chriso Pre-GBBF Shindig) by chriso - London ].
Clear dark brown black colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, alcohol, wood, coconuts. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.
Bottle shared at Dan’s Birthday Tasting (Lyons, IL). Pours a richer blackish pour, good haziness, with a nice brownish glow on the edges. A frothy tannish head is a decent size, sits around and laces ok. Aromas are gentle cocoa, toast and toffee. Some gentle spirit, oak, and vanilla. A bit sweeter and sticky. Initial is firmer, medium bodied, a touch heavier with cocoa, toffee, and toast. Decent spirit. A bit of a condensed sweeter element hangs around. Some oatmeal, black malts, some toffee and toast. Vanilla, gentle spirit. Middle is a bit fuzzy, warm and spirit driven. A bit warm, some gentle carmelization and toast, toffee, coffee roast into the backend. Some roast, toast, a bit harsher and dry, warmth as we finish. Nice beer, a bit warm. The Iced element thickens it up a bit. Nice.
