Bottle thnx to timfoolery @ WWT II. This pours a jet black coloured beer with a small beige head that leaves quickly. Aroma is alcoholic, bourbon oak, molasses and caramel. Awesome aroma. Flavour definitely has the bourbon influences present, alonside some heavy alcohol and sweet caramel touches. Very well balanced between the oak influences and the alcoholic content. Awesome brew! 50belair (3701) - Florida, USA - APR 9, 2013
Bottle shared by Tony. Clear brown pour with an off white head. Barrel aromas. Thin in the body with sweet malty notes and undercurrents of oak and vanilla. planky84 (3514) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2013
Bottle at Chris O’s pre-GBBF shindig, 2013. Dark, reddish-brown pour. Licorice toffee, chocolate, caramel and toffee aroma. Nice nose. Dark chocolate and licorice flavour. Rich, thick taste. Long, boozy finish. Nice. hallinghansen (3474) - Odense SV, DENMARK - FEB 14, 2015
Trade from Sean9689, thanks bro. Dark brown body with a small offwhite head. Aroma is sweet caramel, dark fruits, light alcohol, brown sugar, sweet bourbon, oak, some vanilla notes. Flavour is sweet caramel, molasses, light alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, chocolate. Carbonation is soft. This is a fantastic sipper. Thanks Sean. ineedbeer (2302) - Oakland, California, USA - AUG 5, 2017
Poured from a 22 oz bottle, #47.
Aroma is a bit oxidized with some honey notes, but there is also quite a bit of chocolate, roast, dark toffee and caramel. Hints of raisin, fig and prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon character.
Pours black with some dark brown hues and a medium large, thick, creamy, light mocha head that recedes slowly to a thin film that sticks around on the edges. Light lacing and moderately small legs.
Flavor is fairly sweet with quite a bit of dark caramel and dark toffee. Also fairly strong chocolate and roast notes with hints of toasted bread. Light to medium light honey notes. Medium light bitterness. Light raisin and fig notes with hints of prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon notes and some light alcohol spice.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low but present alcohol warmth.
Overall, a nice beer, but it is reaching the end of its life; if you have bottles now is the time to drink them. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but its also pretty creamy and silky so that makes up for it.

Bottle. Pours dark brown no head. Big oaky chocolate aroma. Taste is semi sweet lots of barrel. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Poured into a snifter. 2012 vintage, bottle #71.
3.0 A: Deep brown color. Aggressive pour yielded just a wisp of head that fell quickly.
4.5 S: I had another BART variant a while ago, but I don’t remember much about it. However, I don’t think it smelled much like this. This American strong ale smells like equal parts imperial stout and barleywine. Moderate roastiness, milk chocolate, layers of caramel, and hints of toffee. Dark fruits including dates, figs, prunes, and light raisin. As per usual, the barrel aging is done really well. Smooth leather with earthiness and light, supple tannins. Lots of vanilla and a mild oakiness.
4.0 T: Taste is like the nose, but it less powerful. It’s also a bit more tilted toward barleywine. Light roast and chocolate. Layers and layers of caramel, some toffee, fruits mentioned in nose. Light booziness that fits in well with the beer as a whole. Again a good bit of vanilla, leather, earthiness, and oak.
2.75 M: Just like the Eclipse line, this is desperately in need of some body. It’s a light to lighter medium body. It lacks creaminess and is also a bit low on carbonation. Get a higher mash temp up in this bitch.
3.75 D: Again the thing that holds a 50/50 brew from being stellar is the mouthfeel. More body would fix the mouthfeel and would add some more flavor to the taste. Still, it’s a good beer, so feel free to give it a try.

bottle at home.Pours deep brown mahony amber with nearly no head. Intense bourbon vanilla nose, together with caramel toasty aromas and flavours. Mellow body, a tad of alcohol heath, but all well integrated... a treat! OmegaX (1383) - Florida, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Thanks, Joe, for sending me this one. Snifter pour. Not much of anything for a head. Some tan colored bubbles that quickly died. There was a ton of coconut aroma in this thing. Straight up macaroons, coconut, chocolate, sweet malts, molasses, bourbon, vanilla. Damn. This was nice. Poured out a deep, dark brown. Basically black. Thick, chewy texture. ABV isn’t very present for the flavor. Molasses and light roast with tons of coconut and bourbon flavors. Very well done! TheJvd (1343) - NETHERLANDS - APR 7, 2013
Bottle @ WWT II. Pours pitch black with a small, fading tanned head. Aroma has roast, bourbon, molasses and alcohol. Taste also has bourbon, coffe, chocolate, a little bit of roast and alcohol. Nice stuff.
