Black pour with a thin tan head and light lacing .... Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, cocoa, coconut, vanilla and booze with some dry oak .... Taste is of cocoa/chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dry oak, coconut, licorice and some booze .... Finish is dry, boozy and bourbony with lingering dry oak and coconut .... Mouthfeel is thick .... One of the better eclipses.

Cocoa nibs and espresso aroma. Some bourbon in aroma but very subdued in flavor. Slight malt sweetness. Flavor lasted well after it was consumed. Great carbonation with 1/2 inches head.

2011 edition. Pours from a bottle the color of dark chocolate, and just about as opaque, with a finger of silky tan head. Great aroma. Bourbon is smoothly integrated; malts are sweet and big. Cocoa, toasted coconut, macadamia, toffee and a bit of cherry peek out. Oaky. Beautiful flavor, too: sweet cherry, macadamia again, and caramel for days. Buttery French Vanilla, graham cracker and lingering subtly bitter roast round things out. Medium/medium-light body is a bit thinner than expected. Softly carbonated. Age has done this right. An incredible blend of flavors, big, smooth malts, and the bourbon is the backup rather than the show. Good work, 50/50.

22 oz bottle shared with Spencer. 2014 vintage. The pour is a medium black with a thicker dark khaki head and some spotty lace. The aroma is a little boozier than I was expecting. The vanilla is reserved and there is a lot of charred oak on top of the roasty malts. The flavor has a little hop bite to it. There is a good dark fruit and bitter bite. The vanilla fades for more of a bourbon tint, and the aftertaste is lingeringly bitter and chocolatey. This is pretty damn good. The mouth feel is a little lighter than I was hoping, but it is well carbonated and very creamy. The far back end is almost a bit of green barrel, but it's good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650 ml bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours Black with slight tan head. Aromas of dark berries, bourbon (of course), syrupy chocolate and roasted malts. Rich flavors of nutty chocolate, dry coffee, a little vanilla, and booze. Still somewhat hot but a great beer. Unfortunately overpriced relative to similar offerings.
