Coffee and bourbon flavor. Very heavy and thick. Very amazing and have the 2014 bottle.

22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. Thanks! The pour is a nice black with a lighter khaki colored head and a decent lace. The aroma is a little plainer than the Buffalo Trace that was just enjoyed. There is a pretty good bourbon element to it. Good vanilla and chocolate, but the nose just lacks. The flavor is definitely hotter than I was expecting. Good light roast. Some light chocolate present. Lingeringly bitter. Heavy bourbon. The mouth feel is light but well carbonated so it comes off creamy. I'm a fan of the Buffalo Trace a bit more, but it's good. Aftertaste is lingeringly smooth and bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2012 bottle poured into a tulip..jet black with a fluffy tan head..aroma of booze, coffee, roasted nuts..thick,boozy..little too boozy even after being aged 3 yrs..but not bad.

2013 sample at HMOG 2015, if you can follow that. Whiskey aromas. Bit of the same on the flavor. This is a good series of beers. Not knowledgeable enough to pick out the barrel of each but it is a well made barrel aged beer. Spice alcohol drowns out the base beer a bit. The base does give a little body to the overall drink.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa. dark chocolate, bourbon, soy, vanilla and wood. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with bitter notes and alcohol. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. An excellent Impy.

2014 Bottle in my hotel room. Pours opaque with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy rich dark malt, roast and chocolate character with prunes, whiskey, light oak, licorice and earthy hops. Flavor is rich dark malt, chocolate notes, oak and vanilla with peppery whiskey, dark fruits, earthy hops and light bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Fairly substantial but not hot or cloying.
