Didn’t expect very much from this beer (I don’t know exactly why) but it was a really nice surprise. Big bourbon smell with some alcohol notes but not disturbing. Complex taste with some honey, coconut and vanilla. Not too sweet though, very balanced. Thick and creamy. Excellent! VT (2527) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2013
650 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums. Pours an orange tinted black with...practically no head at all. Aroma is wood, chocolate, coffee and loads of liquor. I’d say bourbon. Elijah Craig bourbon. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, hazelnut, wood, bourbon....booze! Finish is coffee bitterness and bourbon...booze! Lingering coffee and bourbon...booze! Medium to strong body, soft mouthfeel, weak carbonation. Very flavrful, solid, imperial stout. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 23, 2013

Rating #1605 - 14.04.2015 - Easter Dinner nightcap. Pours an opaque black beauty with a rich tan foam. Aroma is heavy roast malt, espresso, molasses, oak. Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, lots of burnt sugar, toffee, bourbon vanilla, blackstrap molasses. A beauteous beer that hits on all of my favourite things. #5whore fordest (2470) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - MAR 3, 2016
From the bottle at the Stone Pour it Black Event. Great black pour with a nice head. Aromas and flavors were amazing.

Bottled. Nearly black with a small head of larger bubbles that don’t stick around particularly long. Big vanilla cola and chocolate aroma. Lots of smooth bourbon barrel flavor with less roast or underlying malt and more straight sweetness than I got out of the 2008. THe body was also a little lighter and not quite satisfying given the other elements of the beer. I did hang on to this for over a year though, and it might have been a bit more substantial when fresh. In any case, a tasty beer, but not the amazing experience that the 2008 was when I first had it. Errl (2442) - Plano, Texas, USA - FEB 11, 2014

22oz bottle (2011, #3304) from deftim13, thanks man. Clear dark brown with a small fizzy tan head that quickly fades down to a ring. Aroma is black malt, fruity bourbon, chocolate, caramel and oak. Flavor is hot bourbon and alcohol up front, dark roasted coffee and bitter-sweet chocolate. Medium to full body with prickly carbonation. This one is loaded with bourbon, but I like that. Really nice beer.
