Elijah Craig version shared by Daknole at the Black Friday tasting. Pours near black with a thin tan head. The nose is oaky vanilla, milk chocolate and bourbon. The taste is ahy cocoa, sweet bourbon, dark chocolate, coffee and some alcohol in the finish. Medium semi-creamy mouthfeel. Very good. Thanks Dak! MBrausen (69) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 21, 2012
2011 Vintage, poured from a bottle into a CBS snifter.
A. Pours a pitch black color with a very slight red hue, a 1mm head that quickly resides to light bubbles.
S. Smells very sweet, somewhat of port wine, light chocolate and whiskey.
T. Tastes of chocolate, port wine flavors coming through and some mild and well blended whiskey.
M. Medium-heavy body, tingle and a wine-style dryness, with high carbonation.
O. This is an amazingly good beer. Very smooth and well bodied. Not very hot at all given this has not been aged at all. Lots of bold flavors. A beer everyone should attempt to have at some point! BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 27, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Bottle at Darkness Day 2012. Super dark pour with a tan head. Huge bourbon and vanilla aroma and taste. Slick palate. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Bottle @ Armin’s bachelor party. Thanks Armin and Caleb! Pours a deep black appearance with a dark brown head. Really a smooth yet rich whiskey, caramel, huge chocolate, toffee, vanilla aroma. Big chocolate, caramel, mild dark fruity, date, toffee, smooth whiskey flavor. Maybe just a touch behind the 18 year Elijah Craig version due to a touch less in complexity, but this was very nice. timc100 (314) - Park Ridge, Illinois, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Worth the money if you're into this kind of thing. Fantastically balanced overall. The bourbon aging is so smooth - don't really think about it, te beer was meant to be this way. Oak, vanilla, hot alcohol burn, heavily roasted coffee beans, rich chocolate, and sweet honey.

22oz bottle 2013 poured into a tulip glass. Black as night, but not overly thick. This has a very nice smooth consistency. There is a slight amount of peat on the nose. The barrel aging really does great things for this stout. I’d love to try all variations. Maarten1993 (1276) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 31, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2014 Drank with Thijs, Mark, Andy & Marjolijn 31-1-2014. The smell is totally awesome. Cocos is present. Taste is very overwhelming. Alcohol, sweet, cocos, slight coffee, and the great taste of barrel aged stuff. On the downside: some more carbonation would have been awesome. But still, a great beer! Was fortunate to have this at a share, 2012 bottle. Pours a nice dark black, oil like in viscosity. Bourbon, dark chocolate, and dark fruits on the nose; all follow onto the palate. Finishes with a sweetness to it. Very complex. XaenDovet (1282) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 14, 2014
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2015 Bottle share. 2013. Pours very dark brown. Aroma of bourbon, raisin, vanilla, sexy awesome. Taste is sweet. Dry finish from creamy excellence.
2012 bottle shared by GothGargoyle. Thanks so much! Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, boozey. Taste is sweet, with a tangy bitterness. Palate is ridiculously smooth.
