Bottle on 12/31/12 Mini Horizontal tasting with Eclipse Imperial Stout Elijah Craig 12 yr (this beer) and Mellow Corn. This one was better. Incredible depth and some fantastic bourbon notes. Great beer.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter with love. Very darker brown with tan head that doesn’t stay round. Aroma is BLISS. Oaky bourbon whiskey with caramel roasted love. Would easily sniff this puppy all day. Flavor is so smooth. A blend of molasses sweetness. Thick with booze. Roasty and so rich with dark fruits. Had this one over a year ago rated it 4.5 somewhere else. Now with some age it is slightly close to perfection. Balanced and so incredibly smooth. Blessed to say we have another bottle to sip on down the road...

Poured a 2012 BR2 into a snifter. Aroma is chocolate, some dark fruits, and a tad bit of booze. Taste is semi sweet chocolate, molasses, booze, vanilla. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous. Overall a great beer. Glad I have one more bottle left ;)

Black. Good sized frothy creamy frothy medium brown head, fairly lasting with some lace. Aroma is roasty, chocolatey, a little ash, along with some soft subtle bourbon. Lighter full body. Creamy and ultra smooth. Flavor explodes! Roasty coffee. Dark chocolate. Ash. Extraordinarily smooth bourbon. Some alcohol warmth, but no booze whatsoever. Phenomenal balance. Fantastic! Way exceeded my expectations.

2014 release. 22oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a bit of tan head. Silky smooth, medium sweetness. Subtle spirit flavor balances nicely. Some berry fruit.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2017 An incredibly silky-smooth experience, with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, milk chocolate and caramel. A world class beer. 4.7/5

revisiting on 11 March 2017, 2015 vintage: dark brown pour with a tall and lively tan head. Notes of fine bourbon, vanilla, caramel, light sourness from the oak barrel, honey, subtle lavender, milk coffee. Smooth texture, low carbonation and the alcohol is hidden very well. 4.4/5 - I should not have kept this in the cellar for as long as I did

I drank this originally from a tasting glass at NotB then re-reviewed and scored off a bottle from Nate on 3/20/2011... The beer pours a super dark black, hardly any head though. Poor lacing... The aroma is great, chocolate brownies, vanilla, bourbon finish. Not decadent or overstated, very restrained. Outstanding... The taste is superbly balanced, tastes great, and easily crushable. Fudge brownies, vanilla, light bourbon, a nice warm alcohol sensation in the middle, and the finish has some nice roasted coffee notes. The full spectrum is displayed and perfectly integrated. I had the PVW last weekend I think I almost prefer this, would love to do a side-by-side comparison. I originally rated this a 4.6, this time its deservedly higher.

DocJitsu (2060) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a very dark brown with a fat, foamy, long-lasting, light mocha head. Head retention is about average. Wood, coconut, and chocolate syrup were noted in the aromas. Heavy viscous, creamy mouthfeel that becomes a little astringent at the finish. Chocolate syrup forward with some coconut and ample bourbon. A very, very good imperial stout. Much better than the Vanilla Bean Dark Lord that I’d had moments earlier.

A - Dark black with a touch of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate head. Fades normal. S - Chocolate and dark caramel malts, molasses, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, black licorice, dark cocoa, raisin, coffee, booze. T - Sweet chocolate and bit of caramel malts, smooth Bourbon, vanilla, oak, molasses, coffee, black licorice, bitter dark cocoa, raisin and other dark fruits, and some booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit syrupy with a warming and sweet. D - Great barrel aged stout. The bourbon is very present, but very smooth and balanced.

Un brownies liquide avec un glaçage à la vanille et des notes de petits fruits. Le corps soyeux et velouté des eclipse y est encore une fois.
