Bottle at Home from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: coffee domination, caramel and bourbon barrel aged. Really amazing complexity. Need to taste it!!!! Taste: as the same on nose, this beer is amazing. Good coffee taste and roasted malt. Caramel complexity and bourbon barrel aged complexity. Very amazing palate. This beer is a MUST to try. Aftertaste: good bitterness and very well equilibrium. Coffee caramel and bourbon barrel aged finish. One of the best I try !!!

A: Pours very dark with a small tan-mocha head and whisps of lacing. S: Nice characteristics of roasted malt, bourbon, coffee, caramel, vanilla, some booze. T: The bourbon really shines through against the rest of the flavors. Underneath are vanilla, some oak tannin, chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Very nice combination. M: Beautifully boozy with plenty of bourbon; just the right territory for an imperial stout. D: Very drinkable all around. Had this side by side with the Heaven Hill version and this one was just a tad bit better. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-29-2010

Bottle thanks to Sandstone, rated about a year ago before this beer had its own listing. Pours jet black with a nicely formed small tan head and a little lacing. Looks a bit better than the tap version. Aroma is really great, with vanilla, whiskey, sweet rich chocolate, and roastiness. Flavor is also excellent. You have your typical imperial stout flavors - roast, chocolate, and mild coffee - all really intense and in your face, then youve got your -bal aged flavors - vanilla, oak, and whiskey. Mild hop bitterness as well that I didnt get as much of on tap. All this melds really well together, with just some mild tannins to keep it from a perfect 5. Fairly full and smooth on the palate with low carbonation and just a slight hint of booziness. Drinkability is pretty good, and overall, this is really a great beer. Get it if you can. I recommend sending me a bottle of Midnight Sun M in exchange for this.

Bottle generously shared by Dak...AMAZING!!! So excited to try this one and it literally made my eyes roll back into my skull. What an incredible beer!!! Aroma of smooth bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Extremely fragrant and intoxicating nose that pulls your lips toward the rim of the glass. Rich fudge, molasses, brown sugar, and vanilla blast the palate with the bourbon very present but not at all distracting. The "hot" qualities of the alcohol have subsided and all that is left is the incredible flavor of the barrel. Incredibly balanced, the flavors married well and each seems to enhance the other. Creamy palate on this nearly black brew...this one lives up to its accolades!!!

Hard not to love everything about this beer. Seriously, this brewery has mastered the art of whiskey-aged stouts. Aroma and taste both have tons of cherry cordial, toffee, dark chocolate, and molasses. Thick and sweet and hard to get out of your mouth. I want to live next door to this brewery!
