Bottle generously shared by a BA at the Rapture release. Poured a pitch black body under a brown long lasting head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, bourbon, oak, charcoal and chocolate cake. Fuller syrupy body with a touch of obvious heat. Flavor of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, tobacco, tar. Good good stuff. DocLock (10973) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
2011 bottle, # 3022. Pours dark black with some dark brown through direct light, and a clingy tan head. More head than the copper wax. Nose is heavy earthy. woody, cacaoey, with a lot of spirity notes. Tastes pretty rich, very oaky, earthy, malty, with big notes of charred patent malt, raisins and figs, blackberry, and port. A bit more spirity and hot than the copper. Some late hop notes and a taste reminiscent of the scotch barrel beer from Brew Dog. bootsjohn (68) - Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Huge thanks to my friend Brent for this 2011 bomber. Poured into sniffer. Notable carbonation, but thin khaki head on a dark brown, mostly opaque body. Smells like heaven. Dark chocolate, salted caramel, coconut, lavender, and well aged bourbon. Tastes like adult candy. Dry sweet honey is quite prominent. Bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, strong bourbon and booze. Quite drinkable and really enjoyable. Want to try the others and have the bourbon available for comparison! trancecyclist (50) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2012
On tap at The Trestle Inn during a NorCal Sours & Hops event as part of Philly Beer Week. Strong bourbon scent coming off the surface, confirmed by the smooth taste. Very little head or carbonation, but dominant vanilla and chocolate flavors; more so than a major hops presence. This beer was about as boubon-y as Founders Backwoods Bastard, and that’s saying something. A really impressive and exceptional beer for slow sipping. Served in a FiftyFifty Eclipse snifter.
Finally getting around to trying this beer. I’ve been excited about this one for some time. Shared with the group during a FiftyFifty themed tasting.
The beer appears near black with a thin beige head. The aroma is vanilla, perhaps some toasted coconut, roast, chocolate, oak. Lovely. The taste follows suit. Simply delicious. A standout among the FiftyFifty Eclipse series.
It was interesting sipping this side by side with the Elijah Craig 18 Eclipse. I think both are fabulous beers, each offering a myriad of flavors. Highly recommended.

Dark brown with thin watery edge. Full rich nose of bourbon, vanilla wood notes, and maybe some molasses. Taste is full on rich bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and dark roast coffee. Just a full-on decadent bourbon bomb with very will integrated alcohol. Delicious, but interestingly not as complex as it’s base beer. beerbastard (844) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - DEC 19, 2012
Just came into our state of Ariz. 2012 22oz. Bottle. Poured black with a dimished tan head. Low carbonation. Up front Bourbon nose followed by some wood like aromas. The Bourbon dominates with distinct whiskey flavors, accompanied with roasted coffee and bitter dark chocolates, and caramels. Nice balanced sweetness with the alcohol tipping the scales. Delicious and smooth. A little thin. jtclockwork (17101) - , New Jersey, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Bottle. 2009 vintage. Purple wax. Pours jet black with brown head. Nose/taste of bourbon, vanilla, roast coffee, oak, roast chocolate malt and milk chocolate fudge. Medium body. Hint of bourbon in the finish. Very smooth. kcorum10 (437) - Idaho, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Pours black with a thin red head. Aroma of alcohol that also comes through on the taste along with some mild vanilla. Has a slight burn to the palate. Very good overall. caesar (7170) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - AUG 14, 2013
Bottled @ gbbf, batch br2 2012 purple wax, medium sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of biscuit, bourbon, roasted malts, chocolate, hint of coffee. Honey is gone in aroma. In taste its quite heavy on bourbon, bit boozy even. Still base beer is present.
