Very dark brown, almost black colour, beige head. Aroma of molasses, candy sugar, vanilla, bourbon, light wood. Quite sweet flavour, mlats, caramel, roasted malts, cacao, whiskey, light astringent. Finish caramel, light bitter, bourbon vanilla and lingering astringency.

Good brew, nice bourbon barrel notes.

77ships (9632) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 21, 2013
Thx. to tderoeck / Tim for this one. 65 cl. beautiful bottle – snow aged – lovely white wax. A beauty to behold, 2011 vintage. Pours very dark brown / black with a mocha head. Smell is booze, sweet mocha, creamy with lots of bourbon, very heavy, vanilla, sweet wood, milk chocolate, touch molasses,… Taste is very heavy on bourbon sweet, lots of barrel, this is very heavily aged, almost as if to mask the base beer which is not really available unless if I am mistaken, caramel, sweetness, toffee, sugar, milk chocolate, liquorice, touch molasses, base feels almost a bit thin for an RIS but it is very heavily aged. Creamy body. Glad to try one of these. Benzai (15433) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JAN 19, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2016 Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque black color, small light brown head. Aroma and flavor are similar: malts, bourbon whiskey, vanilla, some liquorice, nice bitter liquorice malt bitter finish. Full body, suitable carbonation. Very nice full bodied imperial stout. Lovely! Rando7 (779) - Iowa, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Opaque pitch black color, small to medium sized white to off-white head. Aroma and taste of malts, roastyness, lightly hops, some liquorice and too much sweetness. [Original rating:7-3-6-3-12=3.1]
Bottle pours black with thick bubbly brown head. Aroma mainly bourbon and oak with a little roast. Taste malt sweetness with bourbon, vanilla, slight roast, chocolate and lots of oak. Finish mild oak and slight roast with malty fullness. Palate rich and creamy. Alcohol apparent.

I liked it a lot although the oak dominated more than I would like.
22oz bottle purchased in 2012. Split a couple ways. Consumed 12-17, reviewed from notes.
A: Pitch black with a very thin mocha lacing. Legs stick.
N: Deep whiff of oak, caramel, and vanilla. Fudge is the backbone, and there is a pronounced brown sugar. The bourbon is the foreground, as it should be.
T: Dominate marshmallows and vanilla. Oak is playing second fiddle. There are traces of coffee and fudge. There is a slight sourness I find distracting, but it’s not an infection.
M: Very intense alcohol. Mouthfeel is much better than the 2010; it’s heavier and fluffier.
O: A marked improvement over the previous year, but for the price, it really lacks the stand out qualities that bring it to the next tier of BA RISes. Good stuff, but I’d rather have Parabola for half the cost.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours tar black with a small, creamy, khaki head. The aroma is a lush swirl of fudge, bourbon, toasted coconut, pouch tobacco and vanilla. Full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The flavor is sweet and singed - dark chocolate, tobacco and charcoal accompanied by traces of vanilla and alcohol. Finishes moderately sweet and warming. World class beer. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz! VsXsV (4414) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 30, 2012
Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of wood, bourbon, booze, chocolate, raw sugar, licorice and light coffee. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee, wood and bourbon. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation, very smooth. Awesome. Borresteijn (6959) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 17, 2012
66cl Bottle at Sloshfest, 6 of the 2011 bottlings side-by-side. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma is soft sweet bourbon, oak, vanilla, hard roasted malts, chocolate, molasses. Flavour is sweet, smooth bourbon, hard roasted malts, coffee, molasses, chocolate, bitter roasted finish. Fullbodied. A lot better than the EC 12y. Shared this with Thorpe and Thorpette after they brought over a steak dinner recently (they’re total ballers). Amy was holding and ogling my newborn son, so she drank hers with a crazy straw. Anywho...
The beer is dark brown with a nice beige head. Noticeably more carbonation than the Brewmaster’s Grand Cru I opened recently.
Nice aroma - bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, oak. A lot of wood character.
The best of the series to this point, though I still have many to work through. Surprisingly pleasant notes of toasted marshmallow, coconut, vanilla. Really digging the subtle complexities at work here. This was served at 60 degrees, so many of the more delicate characteristics jumped out right away. Of course, bourbon, chocolate and oak are front and center, but the nuances steal the show in this beer.
Medium to full bodied with adequate carbonation. Still a bit on the low side. Silky and smooth on the palate.
A winner. I definitely recommend it.
