COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

Shared this with Thorpe and Thorpette after they brought over a steak dinner recently (theyre total ballers). Amy was holding and ogling my newborn son, so she drank hers with a crazy straw. Anywho... The beer is dark brown with a nice beige head. Noticeably more carbonation than the Brewmasters Grand Cru I opened recently. Nice aroma - bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, oak. A lot of wood character. The best of the series to this point, though I still have many to work through. Surprisingly pleasant notes of toasted marshmallow, coconut, vanilla. Really digging the subtle complexities at work here. This was served at 60 degrees, so many of the more delicate characteristics jumped out right away. Of course, bourbon, chocolate and oak are front and center, but the nuances steal the show in this beer. Medium to full bodied with adequate carbonation. Still a bit on the low side. Silky and smooth on the palate. A winner. I definitely recommend it. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-22-2012

Pours a dark brown with a beige/almost brown rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of bourbon, vanilla, coffee and alcohol. Taste is on the sweeter side and offers chocolate, vanilla bean, bourbon and alcohol again. Body is full, carbonation soft and mouthfeel is rich and syrupy. Overall a good BA imperial stout, I cant say Ive been wowed by it but it was still really good.

Bottle @ Halket Very dark brown with no head. Fruity and woody tones. Fruit, vanilla, malt and wood. Full body with a very nice bitter sweet after taste.

Flaska frn Brewing International via privatimport till SB. 18y barrel. Massiv kropp, stor st doft med massor av bourbon, fat, vanilj, russin, fudge, stlakrits. Silkeslen, ganska st, kraftig kropp. Mycket bourbon men det tar inte ver helt utan grundlet matchar vldigt bra. Stora smaker, fantastiskt gott. Superbt dessertl.

Bottle. The sweetest, smoothest, and most mellow bourbon of all of the treatments. I really dig those those caramel malt, vanilla, oak, and dark roasted malts. Good body and mouthfeel. A very nice imperial stout...

Bottle at Mane Liquor Eclipse tasting. 2012 version. Pours dark brown with a sticky tan head. This is definitely one of the best Eclipses of the night if not the best. A bouquet of banana, milk chocoalte, oak, vanilla, honey treacle, coconut and woody spice. Great lengthy spice on the finish. An absolute stunner

2011 vintage bottle #5253 Pours pitch black with a lacy creamy tan head. Amazing aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, caramel/ toffee, oak and molasses. Flavor of dark chocolate, bourbon, dark coffee, caramel/toffee, dark fruit, molasses and had a smooth warming bourbon finish. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. A great barrel aged imp stout.

White wax, bottle #1510, vintage 2011, shared by badnewsbeers. Opaque brown-black body, thin coffee & cream head. Spicy nose with oak, less buttery rum than some of the other vintages, but sharper, with honey, chocolate, and coffee bean. Spicy body, distinctive and sharp, with chocolate, coffee, oak, and licorice/anise, finishing with a nice buttery oak finish. Very good, perhaps my favorite vintage.

Sugary sweet molasses nose. Taste is grossly sweet, lots if molasses and brown sugar, light chocolate. Astringent finish. Not good.
