COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of Tderoeck.

Comparative tasting of 9 different Eclipse Stout variants. All beers small to rather good yellow-beige rim over jet-black beer Overpowering nose of Bourbon, vanilla, alcohol & esters, benzene, spirit, green grapes. Sweet Bourbon flaovur, Belgian chocolates, chocolatesweets. Serious alcoholwarming, sticky, full bodied, creamy MF. A tad sweet to my taste. Thanks to M & L for bringing this one along !

Pour out of bottle bought in Foco, shared at the bar. Pour was black as night with a nice thick, oily black head. Aroma enveloped the notes with big sweet and rich vanilla and bourbon notes, working very nicely into a big chocolate, dark and bitter cocoa with espresso notes as well, hints of toffee and caramel round this out. Taste is just the same, velvety bourbon and vanilla with just a hint of booze, goes into a nice caramel and toffee note then has big dark and roasted chocolate and coffee beans, finishing nice and roasted. Excellent.

Thx. to tderoeck / Tim for this one. 65 cl. beautiful bottle snow aged lovely white wax. A beauty to behold, 2011 vintage. Pours very dark brown / black with a mocha head. Smell is booze, sweet mocha, creamy with lots of bourbon, very heavy, vanilla, sweet wood, milk chocolate, touch molasses, Taste is very heavy on bourbon sweet, lots of barrel, this is very heavily aged, almost as if to mask the base beer which is not really available unless if I am mistaken, caramel, sweetness, toffee, sugar, milk chocolate, liquorice, touch molasses, base feels almost a bit thin for an RIS but it is very heavily aged. Creamy body. Glad to try one of these.

Awesome bottle. 2011 edition. Pours a jet black color with a small beige head. A wonderful nose of vanilla, massive mellow bourbon, toffee. huge. The flavor is super easy to drink, mellow, oak, vanilla, burnt caramel, dark fruit, light heat. My rating doesnt convey how damn good that barrel is. Awesome beer. Top notch BA stout.

Bottle at Dadtoberfest. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malts, bourbon/brandy, dark fruits, dark chocolate, and caramel candies. Good big barrel presence without being overpowering.

2/25/12. Bottle shared at RBWG 2012. Deep black pour with a small brown head. Wonderful bourbon character - wood, bourbon, vanilla, fudge, and more - on top of more chocolate and coffee. Delicious flavors of bourbon, vanilla, fudge, coffee, chocolate, a bit of booze, and more. Nice!
