COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Eclipse Stout aged in special release Elijah Craig 20 Year Bourbon Barrels

Note from the brewer: The white wax 2011 Eclipse was all 20 year. There was no such brand when we acquired barrels, so we called it 18 year. We have since found out that the 20 year old barrels were dumped for a 20yo Elijah Craig special bottling.

Vintages:
2011 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 18/20 Year Barrel) = White Wax
2012 Imperial Eclipse Stout (Elijah Craig 20 Year Barrel) = White Wax

Bottle @ Ulfborg. Cloudy brown body with a small offwhite head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, toffee, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is whisky, caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla. This is great.

Bottle pours black with thick bubbly brown head. Aroma mainly bourbon and oak with a little roast. Taste malt sweetness with bourbon, vanilla, slight roast, chocolate and lots of oak. Finish mild oak and slight roast with malty fullness. Palate rich and creamy. Alcohol apparent.

I liked it a lot although the oak dominated more than I would like.

White wax, bottle #1510, vintage 2011, shared by badnewsbeers. Opaque brown-black body, thin coffee & cream head. Spicy nose with oak, less buttery rum than some of the other vintages, but sharper, with honey, chocolate, and coffee bean. Spicy body, distinctive and sharp, with chocolate, coffee, oak, and licorice/anise, finishing with a nice buttery oak finish. Very good, perhaps my favorite vintage.

Bottle. The sweetest, smoothest, and most mellow bourbon of all of the treatments. I really dig those those caramel malt, vanilla, oak, and dark roasted malts. Good body and mouthfeel. A very nice imperial stout...

Lubiere (13911) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2013
A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, pungent sweet fruity chocolate malt with coffee grind, musty character, grassy floral hops, licorice and molasses. In mouth, a nice sweet smooth chocolate malt with cherries, molasses, licorice, alcohol warmth, complex yet pleasing. Xmas Ottawa gathering Dec 13 2013.

Bomber 2011 vintage poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, dark fruit and brown sugar. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla and light caramel with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.
