COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
4 versions of Eclipse this year. The lions share will go to Evan Williams Single Barrel. Barrels were 10-13 years old. These barrels were kept in an ambient temp storage situation. Approx 180 days in the wood. Should be somewhat bourbon forward with notable barrel character behind the spirit. Beer may have thinned due to storage temp and mild vinous notes based on oxygen pickup during aging. Estimated bottle count...3500. Subject to change...

Bottle, 2012. Pours dark clear black, medium tan head, dissipates fairly slowly, decent lacing. Aroma is rich chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, molasses and anise. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, rich and cocoa like, lots of bourbon, some oak tannin, anise again, molasses and a bit of roast. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Solid effort.

Bottle from the rotter. 2012 black wax. Nose is fudge and brownies. Some dark chocolate. Decadent. Black pour with dark brown highlights. Minimal head. Tate is a sugary sweet brownie with mid palate warming and a finish that leaves me tingling. Lots of rich chocolate and sugar but well short of cloying or diabetes. Pretty dang good for a big boozy stout

Waxed bomber 2012 vintage poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon and light oak. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, light oak and light roastiness with a smooth lingering chocolate bourbon finish.

From notes. Finally found the long-lost notebook from the 4 Elf Party at Dark Horse on December 13! So, that’s where this was found. Shared by someone as I was wandering around the line making friends. Vintage 2013. The pour is a lighter black than I was expecting to see, but it does have a nice dense, layer of dark tan head and some decent lace. The aroma is heavy malt, with a great roast, though light, and a nice bourbon heat to it. There is definitely some barrel and a nice vanilla undertone. Light cocoa comes through on the back end. The flavor is a little less complex. There is the vanilla and bourbon, but the malts kind of dominate the show here. There is a nice heat on the back end. The mouth feel is a little light. The carbonation I think could be helped here, but it’s not bad at all. Coats the mouth decently, and hangs a couple of seconds. The aftertaste is lingeringly malty, with a hint of bitter chocolate
