Charmy black color with a frothy beige head. Solid lacing. Powerful and lovely aroma with oak, chocolate and vanilla. Full body. Fine carbonation. Oak, licorice, toffee, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Dangerously well masked alcohol. Power sipper. Tasty little devil.rlgk (18847) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 18, 2014

"though the price keeps going up (enough to price me out, but a friend bought this one) the quality of the last two isn;t up to par with the Elijah Craig or heaven Hill from 09). nice bourbon vanilla roasted chocolate aroma, and it was still very very smooth, but thin. and though the flavor was quite nice, similar to the aroma, it came across as juuust a bit weaker and one dimensional. still a VERY nice beer, but at this price, it needed to be elite...and is not."

2012 bottle from Capones. Pours a dark black with a generous dark mocha head that eventually fades to just a ring around the glass. Cannot get over the aroma on this one...amazing combination of coffee, tobacco, dark chocolate, roasted and slightly burnt malt, thick/syrupy vanilla (almost distilled like), nice oak presence with a bit of bite, some tannin notes, alcohol is present but does not overwhelm and creates an additional level of complexity. Full body and mild+ carbonation, becomes quite dry with some tannin and bourbon notes on the finish, dry and by far the best version I’ve had. Highly recommend drinking your 2012 bottle now if you have one...delicious. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 13, 2014
Bottle at Mane Liquor Eclipse tasting. 2012 version. Pours dark brown with a sticky tan head. Nose is full of dark fruits and fudge - very sultana and raisin forward with loads of sweet dates. Some coconut shines nicely. Taste is very coconut driven with loads of dark fruits with heaps of vanilla and oak. A damn well integrated barreled beer. I like it ClutchMasterson (64) - Aiea, Hawaii, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Pours a pitch black with slight mocha brown head. Aroma is of coffee, mocha and slight hint of raisin. That bourbon smell comes out as well. Off the bat a strong espresso and bourbon oakey flavor hit you and then chocolate and with a slight bitterness on the end. So good though and I wish I could taste some more. dark black, sticky head, not oily in appearance. Smells like chocolate sunday with quite a bit of whiskey and fudge brownies. well this is pretty old. vanilla and cocoanut are present with anise, herbal peppery and fudge and cookies. oily. still has some booziness.
