kraddel (9196) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - NOV 18, 2017
Pours nearly black , medium to small, bit darker whitz head. Smell is intense bourbon. Not too much of the base left. Taste is full, intense bourbon. Roasty, sweet, very long lasting aftertaste of bourbon. Very intense dark chocolate. Extremely nice, as if that wasnt expected.

Sample from 2013 bottle during the "Biennial Space Tasting!" on 08/20/2017. Pours nearly black with some mahogany-brown around the edges, and a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate malt and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of charred oak, bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is oaky and roasty with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Waiting years for this. Great to finally get this in a glass. Deep, sweet, toasted malt with booziness.

On tap at the 2016 Portland Holiday Ale fest. Colour...very dark brown wth no head. Nose...boozy with toasted coconut, burnt marshmallows, vanilla creme brûlée and dark chocolate. Palate....CO2 is non existent, big shot of fruity, oaky whiskey comes next along with a generally viscous feel. The mid palate has some sharpness to go along with the sweet and teems with perfumed chocolate ganache, plum compote and vanillin. The finish is long and Bourbony.

Bottle sample from tasting notes. Pours black with a small beige head that was gone in 5 seconds. The aroma definitely showed the bourbon, molasses, moderately sweet malt, dark fruits, and boozy alcohol were also present. I enjoyed the flavor more than the nose. This beer was big with flavor: bourbon, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, molasses, licorice, woody, vanilla and at times a strong alcohol presence. Medium bodied and complex. Not as good as the pappy 23 imho.

pink wax bottle shared by a friend. poured a deep dark brown colour with a tanned head. nose has roasted malts upfront, raisins, vanilla, sweet chocolate, vanilla icecream, sweet pappy bourbon. taste is quite hot and alcoholic, with big bourbon notes. mouthfeel is thick and smooth. solid imperial stout.

22oz bottle from a tasting. Clear deep brown pour with low foam. Nose is excellent buttery rich chocolate truffle, chocolate ganache. In flavor, this Eclipse is thankfully not too sweet or too boozy. There’s great balance between sugar, spicy dark chocolate, warming alcohol. Rich, oily palate. There’s even some faint acid balance. I thought this one was quite nice, and typically I’m not a big 50/50 Eclipse fan.

Bottle. Black with a touch of lace. Great bourbon nose, vanilla, chocolate, blackberry. Sweet flavor of whisky and berries. Super smooth, luscious body. A bit of booze in the finish. Lovely.
