COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If being in one of the coldest places in the US isn’t extreme enough, the contents of this beer may very well redefine your commitment to the pursuit of hops. Rockslide IPA is brewed in the ’West Coast’ style with aggressive amounts of American hops such as Amarillo, Centennial and Summit hops. You are greeted with a full frontal assault of citrus/grapefruit/pine hop character, followed up with malt to balance the mouthfeel. This beer is all about hops.

Tap @ brewery. Honeyed body topped with an offwhite head, little lace. Medium body with foamy carb, lightly dry finish. Big aroma of pine and citrus with honey. Flavor of honey, sugar, grapefruit and pine. Very nice IPA.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2009 Draft at brewpub. Pours amber orange with a slight haze and nice retentive white head. Huge citrus and floral hop nose. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Pale malts with moderate attenuation accent the aggressive grapefruit bitterness. Finish is dry and piney with a hint of toastiness. An excellent West Coast IPA.

Draft @ FiftyFifty. Pours a hazy, yellowed-orange color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Grapefruit and earthy hop bitterness in the aroma; resiny, dense, and bitter. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: significant, complex hop character: oranges, grapefruit, and light earthiness; resiny and fresh, generous bitterness; some fruitiness and basic malts at the core. Really nice, bitter, complex IPA. Lengthy finish: grapefruit and citrus bitterness, toasty malts; dry and bitter end.

Sample on Tap @ The Brewpub. Pours foggy yellow with a bright white ring. Nose is hoppy, lightly. Taste is very hoppy, light with a touch of bitterness. Decent.

On tap at the brewery. Light amber with a lasting creamy head. Aroma similar to the pale, but supercharged; very aromatic and piney hops. The flavor is big on pine and spruce, with a little grapefruit and just enough pale malt sweetness to keep it together. This is a pretty nice IPA, and I can see how it is so popular as my server said--apparently they don’t do growler fills anymore because they were always running out of it. My only hang-up is the pine dominated hop profile; I would much prefer a more floral or tropical flavor.

Tasted on tap at the Northern California Brewers Fest 2008. This IPA pours a medium yellow gold color from the tap. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma is herbal, and floral, with some hints of garlic. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrus, some of that summit hop flavor as well. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
