They say it takes a lot of good beer to make good wine, and there is an abundance of both in the Santa Ynez Valley. For this farmhouse ale, we teamed up with our neighbors at Margerum Wine Company to bring the best of both to the table. (Available in FigMtnBrew taprooms and select Whole Foods Markets in Southern California)

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours Pours light translucent gold with a fizzy/creamy white head. Aroma is strong - mostly earth and fruit that might be grape. Med body or nearly. Flavor is somewhat earthy and definitely grape. Rather refreshing. Not getting anything else I can describe, but this is a rather dry and fruity saison. Drinks very easily.

Whole foods,,,bomber bottle. Somewhat flat...would like more for a saison. Kind of lean. Some pears and a vinous note.

Type: 22oz. bottle
Glass: Trappist Westvleteren XII glass
From: Whole Foods in Hillcrest (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $10.99
Purchased: Aug. 15, 2014
Consumed: Aug. 23, 2014
Misc.: Gold foiling on bottle top/neck

Poured a honey, straw, hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of rocky white head, which thinned out fairly quick. Average spotty lacing long the sides of the glass. Below average retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.62)

Smelled boozy, skunky malts, corn, grass, honey, bread, cereal, green grapes and green apple. (Smell - 3.35)

Tasted better than the smell with the similar characteristics. Got green apple, kiwi, green grapes, grassy notes, cereal, corn, cloves, faint bubblegum, some oakiness, tropical notes and some unknown spices. (Taste - 3.81)

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, slightly fruity finish. Crisp and refreshing. (Feel - 4.11)

This beer had its moments. The good news is that the taste and feel was the best part. Got better as it went down. (Overall - 3.77)

Bottle. Clear dark golden color with white head. Musty, spicy white wine, dry wood, dry bread, herbal aromas. Light bodied with average co2.  Musty grape, dry wood, bready pale malt flavors with dry, earthy hoppage----nicely clean bitter finish___ tasty.

22oz. bottle, Thanks Paul! Pale golden pour with minimal head. Nose is lite pears and apples. Mild flavors of white wines, dry tart apples, followed by a mild sweetness in the finish.

Fad: Taster på bryggeriet. Lysegul klar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duften er gæret hvor druerne tydeligt anes. Smagen er lidt ensidig med masser af druesaft. God bitterhed gør det til en fin øl.

Tap at brewery, super awesome, gold pour, white head, aroma of citrus, taste is fruity with lots of grapes, wonderful finish.

Bottle. Pours with a clear gold white head. Aromas are hoppy floral, intensely fruity, funky, vinous, tannic oak, cotton candy. Vanillin. Flavors are mild sweet, straw, floral, Belgian esters. Black pepper phenols. Light tartness, wheat, lightly sweet. Pear. Lively carb, off dry.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow-gold color with a small white head that soon dissipates to a fine film. The aroma medium in strength with yeasts, juicy-fruit gum and citrus. The taste mirrors the aroma with more juicy fruit type gum, lemons, grapes, and sweet biscuit. The palate is light but effective and the carbonation is soft. Finishes short and sweet. Overall: very tasty saison.

AdamChandler (5182) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 15, 2014
Slightly hazy pale gold. Grape must nose, lemon and gingerbread. Slightly sweet and tannic. Very much a malty white wine sort of nose. Grapey winey taste. Decent tartness but a malty presence. Thing finish. Very refined. Nothing really crazy.
