Hoppy Poppy IPA is identified by its intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. The brilliant appearance and dry texture of this IPA is reminiscent of a fine Santa Ynez Valley chardonnay and is the Master Brewer’s favorite vintage.
On tap at the source. Pours with a clear golden body with a small white head. Aromas are hoppy, fruity, floral and citrus. A very light caramel backbone. Flavors are fruity, citrus, tropical fruit. Some pine towards the finish. Pretty clean, minimal esters. Lightly bready. Medium bodied, feels a bit on the light side of the style. Medium carbonation.
Draught at the brewery. Nice deep gold hue. Pretty big dank and piney hop aroma. The flavor gets more on the sweet side with a milder bitterness. Too "balanced" for my tastes. Up the bitterness and blend some more fruity hops into the aroma and I can see this being right up my alley.
