At the bar in the Funk zone of Santa Barbara with Patty, Andy and Kara. A fast stop in for a beer on the way to dinner. Poured black with a modest tan head and lace. Coffee aromas are strong upfront, with chocolate and dark fruits following. Flavors are similar, with the sweetness of milk chocolate most evident. Medium body, oily mouthfeel, and the milk chocolate sweetness lingers in the finish.

Poured a brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruit and oxidation. Flavor the same, is this even a stout?

Black color with small tan head. Aroma and taste is cocoa, some coffee, chalk, very dry. Low carbonation. Got that silky Oatmeal mouthfeel. Quite one-dimensional but good to drink.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, coffee, lactose, some cocoa powder into a slight dark fruit note, hints of spice. Taste is roast, coffee, chocolate into some earthy notes, touch of dark fruit, finishing yeasty, slightly sweet.

Stout simplement apprciable.

15th July 2014 and my Orange County coastal beer crawl sees me in Schooner, a bar in Sunset Beach where I had four beers, this being my last one before moving on. On-tap pint, loved it. Dark, probably black, the head a tanned affair. Not too sure about the oatmeal but there was plenty of rich maltiness within the nose and taste, chocolate and coffee flavours abounded in my mouth with a very faint hint of peat smokiness to add an extra dimension. Best beer of the day by a long way.
