Good body to this one with plenty of coffee and chocolate flavors. Falls a little flat in the finish.

2014 bottle. The beer pours black with a medium light brown head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, coffee and chocolate. Light to medium body with a roasty malt and coffee character, with some chocolate in the background. The finish is smoked malt and coffee. Decent overall.

At the bar in the ’Funk’ zone of Santa Barbara with Patty, Andy and Kara. A fast stop in for a beer on the way to dinner. Poured black with a modest tan head and lace. Coffee aromas are strong upfront, with chocolate and dark fruits following. Flavors are similar, with the sweetness of milk chocolate most evident. Medium body, oily mouthfeel, and the milk chocolate sweetness lingers in the finish.

Black color with small tan head. Aroma and taste is cocoa, some coffee, chalk, very dry. Low carbonation. Got that silky Oatmeal mouthfeel. Quite one-dimensional but good to drink.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, coffee, lactose, some cocoa powder into a slight dark fruit note, hints of spice. Taste is roast, coffee, chocolate into some earthy notes, touch of dark fruit, finishing yeasty, slightly sweet.
