COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2016 At Gene’s rooftop. Dark amber for an IPA. Big fruity hops and quite bitter. The bitterness settles strangely in the palate though and while it wasn’t bad I just wasn’t a big fan of this. Serving: Tap

Dark golden to light amber in color with a moderate ecru colored head. Earthy malt and citric scents. Sweeter start with some pale and bready malts. Middle has some citrus and light floral flavors. Finish goes back to some earthy malt and longer pine bitterness. 3/12

Can sourced from the Duke in Chicago. Pours unclear, rich gold with a creamy, off-white head. The nose holds crackery malts, some ripening orange, bread. Medium sweet flavour with some white gape, melon, pine, more crackers, grass. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to close, with more bitter grass, light plastic, graham cracker. Eh, doesn’t seem too fresh? So so.

Can from Chevy Chase Wine and Liquors. Bought in Can randomly and what a pleasant surprise. Hazy orange body with big head. Nose is hoppy, floral. Very good taste of hops, graperfruit and floral. With just a really nice bitter kick to it. Excellent.

Bought at Chevy Chase wine store, it’s a shithole so don’t bother, this beer is proof of that .. Cereal, caramel, leaves, & grass .. Mouth is solid, long finish .. I like finch brewing .. . . They sure like blowing horns here in DC

Poured from a 16 OZ can into a tulip glass. The appearance is a cloudy dark yellow with a medium sized white head. The aroma is tons of hops. the taste is hops and some malt on the back end. Overall, a really strong beer.

16 oz can picked up locally. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have citrus and resiny hops, a splash of florals, pale, mildly toasted malts, hints of caramel, grapefruit, decent, but other options are available to draw my interest elsewhere.

Can 47,3cl / Lata 47,3cl. @ Beer Culture, New York, NY, USA A: Amber / Ambar. T/S: Hops, resinous, citrusy, slightly malty / Lupulo, resinoso, citrico, ligeramente a malta.

Pours copper with a sticky white head. Aroma is very malty, overly so, there is some mild (and faraway) citrus, herbal and pine notes. The flavor is an interesting mash of malt, biscuit, orange peel, prune and plum notes, and very mild bitterness. It’s intriguing, but way too malty to be an IPA. I’m wondering if my can wasn’t simply old; I’ve had a couple other IPAs that were almost a match to this after I left them a couple months too long in the cellar.

Canned. Pours malty deep color. Off white, slightly beige head. Aroma is resinous pine, very malty sweet toffee, caramel, tangerine and citrus hops sweetness. Flavor is very malty up front. Barleywine sweetness, toffee, caramel, some dark fruits as well. Flavor is tangerine. Bitter finish. I like it but it’s more of a hoppy Barleywine than an IPA. Could be an older can? Not sure.

The aroma is biscuit, caramel, spicy. The appearance is slightly hazy amber, white head. The flavor is spicy, caramel, citrus. The finish is citrus, acidic, grapefruit. Medium in body. Decent.
