COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a cloudy orange with sticky white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; a blend of citrus and bitter hops with nice balance and a good mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.

8/11/12. GTMW. Dark orange pour with a nice khaki head. The aroma shows maltiness, caramel, and a balanced dose of smooth, citrusy hops. Balanced flavor as well with caramel and maltiness that finishes dry and smooth with some more citrusy hops. Not bad.

Atlanta, GA - Taco Mac - Perimeter Center - on tap. Medium gold pour, soft snow white head with generous lacing. Aroma has some light floral accents, a brief hint of spruce. Flavor is full-bodied with some light citrus bitterness, just a touch of malty yeastiness, some caramel sweetness and light spiciness, Very "English" tasting. NIce smooth mouthfeel.

Pint-size can. Poured medium orangey-peach with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up blood orange, earth, and pine hoppage over biscuit, bready, and honey sweetness.. much more lovely orange as it warmed up. The flavor found fruity notes plus some honey at the core.. moderate bitterness at most around, with orange and pineapple leading.. finished with more citrus over toffee and caramel malts. Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow.. solid.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7189) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a medium sized soapy orange-white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was strong floral hops - almost gritty and leafy. The flavor was bitter with a strong floral and fruity hop presence and a tangy caramel undertone. Long leafy floral and fruity hop finish. Medium body. Solid.

16 ounce can. Nice carbonated pour. Like Cut Throat, malty. Big malt presence. Some citrus. Bit of sweetness that gets a little coying. Overall, decent and drinkable for this particular take on the IPA.

Draft on tap at Tribes Alehouse (Mokena, IL). Saw it on tap and stopped by for one after doing some cellar stuff. Nice. Pours a well hazed orange amber hue, healthy darker glow with a nice strong hazy murk, a bigger offwhite almost eggshell white creamy cakey head, dies to a firm layer, laces pretty well and sticks around as a firm layer. Aromas are a plethora of citrusy lemon and orange, florals and a nice blast of Sorachi Ace on the nose, lemon and lively, moving into grass, a touch of spice and picking up sweeter and toasty malts, biscuits. Some soap, with a vibrant lemony hop appeal and floral staying on, but the malt is still there. Initial is medium bodied, preaching a healthy bite of lemon and florals, strong bitterness as some pine works in, dry florals up front, almost a sharp bitterness as it fades into some soap, creamier malt body shows bread, toast, and biscuits, staying away from bigger sweet malts as that hop bite is potent up front, sharp lemon, pine, florals, and grass. Pretty dry but with a lighter malt body that keeps the hops vibrant. Lacing stays like a wall, coating the glass. Some oranges work their way into the middle, pairing with the malty touches, sustained hops. Finish is citrusy lemon, rind, and dry florals and grass, touches of resinous and dry pine stick to the backend, with some lemon cookies, more grass, touches of bready malts, but the hops override this beer. I wouldnt say its the most complex hop profile, but it is potent. I like this more than the Cut Throat, I can see others liking it more as well. Pretty good, but lacks true complexity to push it up into the upper echelon. Nice beer here by Finch.
