COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

From can to shaker. Pours a cloudy orange with a nice beige head. Initial smell is a bit grassy with some citrus and hay. Taste is of grapefruit and some other citrus fruits with a very balanced malt presence. Wonderful MF with ample, smooth carbonation. This IPA, like most, starts with great hop/citrus fruit flavor, but this one quickly dissipates and is all bitterness. I am a fan of some very bitter beers but this one finishes with too much bitter and not enough flavor. However, with that said, it is a very good IPA and I wouldn’t hesitate buying it again.

ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - OCT 6, 2013
16oz can. Pours a hazy amber color with a two finger white head that leaves good lacing and falls to a cap. Aroma is apricot, some citrus rind, herbal, grassy, floral hops and a bit of pine, and a decent amount of caramel malt. Flavor is orange citrus, apricot, pine, resinous hops, good caramel malt backbone offering some sweetness, that finishes with good bitterness, and mild alcohol. Medium bodied, creamy, good carbonation.

fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - JUN 15, 2014
Poured from a can into a pint glass a yellow orange with a white head. Aroma is bitter sweet citrus. Flavor reminds me of pineapple pine trees. Thinking this brew may be a bit past prime as in it is a touch flat but know from previous tastings this usually not the case. Overall a slightly better than average IPA.

Crisp and clean. Nice herbaceous quality to the hops, though citrus notes dominate. Relatively light and refreshing.

Canned. Pours malty deep color. Off white, slightly beige head. Aroma is resinous pine, very malty sweet toffee, caramel, tangerine and citrus hops sweetness. Flavor is very malty up front. Barleywine sweetness, toffee, caramel, some dark fruits as well. Flavor is tangerine. Bitter finish. I like it but it’s more of a hoppy Barleywine than an IPA. Could be an older can? Not sure.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of citrus and bitter grapefruit with a hint of backing pine. Flavor starts with grape fruit that transitions to pine that mellows into a resinous finish.
