COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of citrus and bitter grapefruit with a hint of backing pine. Flavor starts with grape fruit that transitions to pine that mellows into a resinous finish.

On tap at Birds and Blokes in Chicago. Pours a cloudy orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter citruses with some piney resins and a sweeter caramel backing. Oranges, tangerines, and a bit of a grapefruit. Flavor is similar. Sweet orange and bitter grapefruit pines with some juicy tangerines. Balancing, sweeter caramel malts with a touch of bread. Finishes dry with a moderate bitterness and some juicy citrus resins. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a very tasty IPA. Easy drinking and balanced with lots of citrusy, resiny hops and a solid caramel.

coppery with small head. not surprisingly, this is very hoppy -- like a mid abv imperial ipa .slight pineyness. very bitter and the bitterness lingers nicely. not much in the way of citrus, but very full flavored.

500ml can courtesy of Brian. Slightly hazy orange tan. Thin, off white head. Dry citrus hop aroma. Clean, some toasty golden malt tones and a solid hop bill. A faint touch of butter, but not overwhelming. Overall pretty solid offering, crisp hoppy IPA.

Can. Pours an orange hued amber with a soapy off-white head tha tleaves rings of whisply lacing down the glass and settles in to sporadic clumps. Quite citrusy aroma with some sweet sugary floral notes. Somewhat light bodied with a significant dry bitterness. Not bad and the lingering bitterness is pleasant but lacks a little punch of flavor that would put it over the edge.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a white head and strong aroma of pine and citrus. Taste is of hops, pine, citrus, and grapefruit with a heavy and lingering bitter finish. Nice brew.

Pailhead (6541) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUL 3, 2012
Can: The aroma consists of caramel, fruit, and light grapefruit. It pours a hazy amber with some sediment floating around. It has a two finger orange tinged off-white head that has very good retention and leaves some nice lacing rings. The flavor starts with some sweet citrus and caramel. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit and a hint of toasted notes. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, I generally don’t score IPAs with caramel notes highly. I didn’t really score this high, but the caramel notes in this IPA didn’t bother me as much as they usually do.
