Easily the best of the Firehouse brews. Still, it doesn’t merit repeat trips when I’m in SD. nickd717 (5008) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 2, 2009
On tap at the brewery in Rapid City. Best beer I had at the Firehouse. Medium brown appearance with almost no head. Malty and smoky aroma. Nice roasted malt and nutty taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Satisfying if not the most exciting - sort of like South Dakota (hey, at least it’s not Iowa).

If you are at the firehouse this is the beer to get. Nice dark brown appearance with no head. OD40oz (774) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - APR 15, 2004
Dark brown, no head, smooth with a clean aftertaste. I could really taste the hops. Definitely THE best beer at this brewery. This will be the only beer I try if I go in there again. Braudog (6944) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JAN 18, 2004
Dark red with a smoky nose. Highly nut-bittered and hearty. Good American brown ale and the best at this SD brewpub. vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 5, 2003
Has a dark brown color and a roasted malt/chocolate. Taste is of chocolate malt and finishes with a good crisp bitterness. Overall I am not a big fan of brown ales, but this one was not bad.
