Pours a black coffee color with slight suds of head. Mostly roasted flavors, not much hop presence, bitter malt finish. Roasty aroma.

On tap at brewpub. Pours clear dark amber with small white head. Decent lacing. Aromas of pine, citrus, little caramel, and grassy hops. Flavors of pine, lighter citrus, caramel, and some bitter hops. Really lacking the color for the style and balance. Decent at best. DiarmaidBHK (4907) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 31, 2013
Draft at brewpub. Maybe I’m missing something but I thought a black IPA was supposed to be black. This is more like dark amber. There’s a hint of pine on the tongue. Not much malt. Fairly bitter. This one lacks balance. Ratman197 (14838) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Growler poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roastiness, carmel, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, carmel, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit with a crisp dry bitter lingering roasty finish.
