Review from notes, sampled 7/28/2007 will riding across country.
Pours a deep reddish amber color with a smallish off white head that displays moderate retention. Smells of brown sugar, sweet malts and a hint of earthy spicy hops. Taste follows the nose fairly well and adds a hint of diacytl. Medium to thin body, moderate level of carbonation with a slick almost creamy mouthfeel. Middle of the road brown ale that while not offensive it was also nothing spectacular. This sure did go down easy inside in the air conditioning on a blistering 90+ degree day. Draft. Clear maroon color, thin white head. Aroma of caramel and scotch. Taste is malty and toasty. Not bad. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Tap @ Brewpub: Pours a dark copper/amber color with a modest beige head. Mild nose is fairly sweet. Tastes malty and has some light florals. A little caramel. Sweet fruity yeast pokes through. Not something I’d have again. aracauna (3606) - Georgia, USA - JUN 18, 2009
Surprise. I expected the Chukkar with its hop profile to be the most flavorful of this bland bunch, but this is actually good. Relatively bold caramel malt and a peppery hop nose that complements the malt well. Best of the bunch. nickd717 (4691) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 2, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Not a bad bet if you’re stuck in Rapid City. Nice red appearance with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel and slightly floral hops, not much to it though. Flavor is caramel malt, mild hoppiness, and slight fruitiness. Pretty standard red ale palate, nothing special there.

On tap at brewpub. Deep orange color and clear. A lot of caramel with a bit of floral and perfumy hops. Mostly sweet, very sessionable. Skyview (6055) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - NOV 5, 2007
On draught at the Firehouse brewpub in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a creamy off-white head that has a slow dissolve and good lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet caramel malt, a touch of flowery hops and a touch of sweet fruit. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a sweet caramel malt and mild citrus/flowery hops character. Finish is creamy, smooth and malty with a slight mild bitter aftertaste. nicolascage (116) - Copenhagen (Virum), DENMARK - SEP 28, 2007
Tap at firehouse. Nice bitter for a red ale. Nice biscuit malt flavot too. Very nice. padrefan98 (854) - (San Diego) Santee, California, USA - JUL 21, 2007
Draft at the brewery. Not bad. Very mild flavors of hops and sweet corn. Pretty good. Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2005
Nice amber color,no head to speak of.The armoa was caramely with a mildly sweet side sort of coming through and a decent hop presence. The flavor was pretty good nice malt side some fruit and hops with a decent hoppy finish that is slightly bitter but nicely done.Over all not bad makes me wish there was a place like this in my area so i didn’t have to drive so far.
