COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, rich red ale without the bite (5.5% alcohol). This 3-time gold medal winner is a combination of 5 different styles of malts, and several different Yakima Valley hops. The use of ""crystal malt"" in the brewing process imparts a rich caramel flavor. This combination creates a flavor packed red ale like you’ve never had before!

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, chocolate, light nuttiness, light citrus, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light citrus hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, chocolate, light nuttiness, light citrus, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Light earthy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, chocolate, light citrus, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light citrus hop flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good brown ale(labeled as an amber ale on this site though). All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light citrus hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Red with white head. Malty and fruity. Decent. Had this poured in small glass from draft at the American Beer Classic 2015.

355ml bottle. Clear, darkest copper colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Caramel malty aroma. Taste is caramel malty, hints of peach ice tea. Absolutely monotonous.

Onslow (1539) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - MAR 13, 2015
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear reddish brown brew with tan head. Aroma of sweet malts, some herbal hops, toffee. Taste is all about the sweet malts - caramel, toffee with a little light toast and bread. A little hops at the end though the sweet malt runs through to the end. Nice enough brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, light ivory head, over a clear dark Amber (SRM 20) body.....nose is toasted malts with biscuit, baked bread, herbal hops, balanced....taste is slightly sweet, with toasted malts, mild hop bitterness, balance to the malts......mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, fizzy carbonation. This is a simple, mild beer. It is well made, but almost utterly boring. BJCP 5/3/13/4/6

Bottle. My first from this brewery.A reddish bronze appearance with a creamy head. Unusual malty herb like flavour. Medium body and quite pleasant.
