>> Deep blacker pour with healthy, gray foam. Great lacing. Nose is Black IPA with grilled cantaloupe, grilled pineapple moving to something a bit sticky and candy like as if a not very fresh hop aroma. Taste is a bit weaker than expected, some chocolate orange, cocoa powder, mild paper. Finishes dry. Doesn’t really punch like I expected...the recipe sounds like a slam dunk.
Fudge and bourbon nose. Black, medium white head. Charred oak, less fudge, subtle bourbon. Moderate carbonation, medium body. brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 1, 2014
On tap @ Barrelworks. Very dark brown in color with a soapy tan head. The nose has a lot of brown sugar and orange peel. Somewhat vinous and fruity as well. Sort of a tea and oak aroma to it as well. Nothing special aroma-wise. The flavor is kind of sweet and fruity. Slight booze, lots of plum, grape, and raisin. Slight candied orange peel. Brown sugar, some roasted malt, tea, and wood. Mildly bitter on the finish. MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 26, 2014
