Bottle courtesy of Naven. He warned me about this one. Said it was comparable to Angel’s Share. Well, he was right. I think it might be better and more complex. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, and tobacco. Flavor is choc. covered cherries, tobacco, and a mild alcohol burn w/ an oaky finish. Also notice a nice bourbon flavor on the back of the tongue and in the throat. This is one excellent beer.

Bottle courtesy of jimbowood. I am 1 year away from my first taste of Angels Share, and this is the closest if not better than that. Mouthfeel of bourbon and vanilla straight from the beginning. It is all down hill from here. dwyerpg (6180) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - NOV 6, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2007 Very oaky aroma, the hops are drowned. This thing tastes mostly like black licorice to me, and I am very okay with that. A crazy idea, with just a little too much noticeable alcohol at the end. Excellent. Enniskillen (2053) - Bakersfield, California, USA - DEC 30, 2006
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2009 Deep Ruby with a thin tan head. Gorgeous aroma of oka, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and oatmeal. Taste is very interesting oatmeal, plums, caramel, alcohol, background hops. TheKegergator (241) - California, USA - JAN 31, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2007 Finnaly tracked down a case of this bad boy. Pours a very dark color, a dark copper thats almost black best describes it. Nice dark tan head that lasted well. The smell is very good with a hint of alcohol and roast. Im not sure I know enough about brews like this yet to pick out everything in it but this one was great. The taste is VERY complex with the roast and some other vanilla’ish flavors. The 12% ABV comes in just at the very end. Very drinkable for the ABV, and will only get smoother as it ages IMO.

Opened this one when we opened a full FW10-13 vertical. This has aged amazingly. Very dark brown color. Smells of tons of oak, bourbon, some vanilla, and sugars. The wonderful taste of malt and barrel just wonderful, vanilla, caramel and brown sugar. Odeed (1803) - Bakersfield, California, USA - DEC 9, 2006

This beer is everything, a yummy drinkable barkeywine, with an exceptional complexity of bourbon, whisky, vanilla, and wood. A strong ale, this is an evening 12% and it is drinkable yet deserves sipping, after several minutes of aroma.. All kinds of hops, spearmint, peppermint.

Bottled. Very dark amber colour with mediumsuized beige head. Aroma has vanilla, raisins, alcohol and a lot of wood in it. Flavour is again raisins, spices, tar, vanilla, wood and some alcohol. Also a lot of salted licorace when warming up a bit. Just lovely. Thanks to omhper for bringing this goodie! Ratman197 (14830) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 20, 2008
Bomber poured a clear dark brown nearly black with garnet highlights and a small lingering tan head. Aromas of oak, bourbon, brandy, cherry, tobacco and leather. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, brandy, tobacco, leather, light cherry, light oak and hints of pepper with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish. Hides it’s alcohol well.
An absoulutly amazing beer! I wished I had picked up more when it was available.
