650 ml bottle generously shared by colonelforbin. Thanks Mike. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head that has good retention and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is roasty with bourbon, oak, a light mineral note, a bit of vanilla, and some some coffee. The initial taste has a light sweetness. There is lots of roastiness, a bit of bourbon, some oak, a bit of vanilla, and some light coffee. The finish is fairly dry with a lingering roastiness. Medium-light body. Low carbonation. Great beer. It might be my favorite of the anniversary beers.

Auction won from California. Notes of raisins, wood, dark chocolate, toffee and coconut. Definitely had hints of parabola. Amazing.

Dark brown wirh a minimal tan head. Aroma is malty and boozy with caramel, prunes, dark chocolate notes, bourbon, notes of vanilla and dark fruits.
Taste is sweet, malty, light roasted with caramel, some bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, notes of licorice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
Past its prime, but still quite good.
Bottle courtesy of Hackobock. Pours very dark chestnut brown with a small frothy beige head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and tiny nutty with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark fruits in brandy, toasted nuts, bourbon alcohol and brandy alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and slightly fruity. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny velvety, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, dark fruits in liqueur and some additional barrel character on top of that. I found this in the back of ’deep storage’. These Anniversary Ales started tasting like pruney strong ales, and this may have been the last year i bought.
This seemed to hold it’s age well, maintaining a pretty complex taste.
I’m thinking it might have been a little low carbonization to begin with, and it surely lost some on the way, but maintained enough effervescence to bring out the flavors well. Not much lace however.
As the beer warmed up, it was very drinkable, and hid the higher alcohol well.

Pours a deep burnt umber color with a finger of eggshell foam. Lots of cocoa dusted malt balls with nuances of dark fruit, burnt caramel, vanilla, some nutty bourbon, a bit of oxidation and thinness appears due to the age of the bottle but still delicious.
