4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served from a 22 oz bottle from OTM. The appearance is a deep mahogany brown hue with a nice soapy light brown head. The nose is full of brown sugary, light molasses, dark chocolate, nice oak notes, aged hops, butterscotch, all sorts of fantastic stuff. The flavors enter with tones of butterscotch and caramel, aged hops take the middle with some tangerine and grapefruits. Butterscotch and caramelized light molasses follow on the finish with a bittering oak ting in the aftertaste. There is a little kumquat and grapefruit over caramel and butterscotch for a while but that bitterness fades some. Lot’s of barrel characteristics with the Brandy and raw/Union Barrels being the must inflectional at this point. The mouth is a little bitter at times and a little stingy from oak and could use some melding and smoothness. The body of the Parabola just doesn’t come through as much as I expected. Lot’s of barrel characteristics. Overall I think this year should of been enjoyed a little fresher even though there is still a ton to offer. Great beer and I love this anniversary line. I wish the price was $8-$10 cheaper but I will still buy them until they really disappoint.
Found a bottle at my bottleshop and was excited to try it. Pours almost black with just a little bit of tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Nose is molasses, plum, raisin, maybe toffee, and chocolate. Taste is chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and molasses, and fig. The fruit in the nose is present too. Medium bodied, light carbonation. This is a wonderful beer that has held up remarkably well over 6+ years. Goes down remarkably easy. This was certainly worth the premium I paid for it. kraddel (9323) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUN 25, 2017

Clear purple brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, molasses, alcohol, spicy touch, soft roast. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: very sweet, lots of alcohol, chocolate, bitter. Aftertaste: molasses, caramel. Very nice one!
Thank you ElManana+1! 655 ml. bottle sampled @ "Adam Chandler Visiting (for real this time)" Tasting. Black, little mocha bubbles. Nose has some varnish styled alcohol, faint plastic, boozy molasses & chocolate syrup. Taste is better nice mocha chocolate, boozy, varnish alcohol, chocolate, low red grape (the oxidation?), molasses, sugar, pralines. Molasses, near oxidation body. Good but quite rough around the edges, I do feel like I like this more fresh, still very good stuff. rouhlas (3979) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - MAR 9, 2017

Bottle shared at Ratebeer awards show. 30/01/2016. Huge thanks! A clear reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a small tan head. ARoma is layered cakey toffee, vanilla, boozy barley wine, hint age and mint. Flavour is composed of sweet cakey malts, toffee, mint, nutty malts, hint of boozey dried fruits. Palate is sweet, velvety, sticky toffee. Good. anstei (2742) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - JAN 29, 2017
Bottle at RBGT. Pours dark brown. Fresher aroma than 12 and 13, but also heavier and boozier, with more caramel. A little less to my taste. OldMrCrow (2446) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Six years in, and this bear is beautiful. Deep dark pour, still abundant but not aggressive carbonation. Massive complexity, tons of plum, tobacco, lots of wood. A bit a booze but not heavily so. Drinking this in one sitting was an excessively decadent delight. I need to buy these every year, price be damned. thepatrickman (1503) - Lewes, East Sussex, ENGLAND - OCT 26, 2016
Bottle shared as part of a 14-19 vertical tasting. The first in the series surprised everyone by how well it held up. Even 6 years later, there’s very little evidence of any oxidization, and the flavors have clearly mellowed and evolved. Strong, chewy chocolate dominated the flavor, although there was a good amount of oak, booze, and coffee flavor as well. Just enough sweetness to round out and compliment the chocolate. Outrageously good and extremely complex. SHIG (4965) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - SEP 2, 2016
Bottle shared at RBWG 16: Poured a brown with a off white head. Aroma is boozy malts. Taste is boozy malty some oak, but that booze smashes it.
