CBC. Clear deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Nose of vanilla wood and spice. Palate is airy and a little dry. Bourbon vanilla, light wood. A little brandy and red wine. Finishes light and dry. Doesn’t appear to have the complexity these anniversary beers normally have but then this is hardly the right conditions to appreciate something like this. Must revisit.
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear reddish brown with a small off-white head. Lovely aroma of thick, burned sugar and oaky Bourbon. Fairly rich body. Loads of caramel, molasses and syrup, but everything is kept in place and balance by quite some hops and a subtle underlying roastiness and just enough hops. Very, very enjoyable. 250213 Leighton (22306) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2014
Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Bruce. Pours clear brown with a frothy tan head. The nose holds of tangy ripe fruits, dark malts, grapes, dates. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of jammy berries, raspberry, dates and figs, vanilla, burnt toffee. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with lots of rich, dark sugars, loads of fig and date, suggestions of cocoa, background wood, some mild toffee. Great stuff. Exceptional depth and balance.
