COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Merry Cherry Stout is our very limited release for Christmas 2015. In late 2013 we acquired two special oak barrels that had been used to age bourbon whiskey before being refilled with spiced cherry bitters. We decided to fill the barrels with Bravo, our Imperial Brown Ale, which is one of our best vehicles for carrying barrel flavor. Two years of aging in our barrel cellar lent the beer a huge nose of spiced Christmas cookies and cherry liqueur. We then decided to blend the barrels with just the right amount of Milk Stout to balance silky milk chocolate, spiced cookie, and cherry liqueur in a warming stout to perfectly accompany your holiday celebrations.

This cherry bitters BA stout needs to be a yearly holiday bottle release. Really unique and cool. And delicious. And smooth. Cherry spice dark roasted malt, chocolate, booze. What’s not to like?!

On tap @ Barrelworks. Nearly black in color with a tan head. Has sort of a weird bitters and luxardo character to it. Sweet chocolate, caramel, and vanilla notes as well. Kind of spiced, which actually works nicely here. Maybe a bit of Necco wafer? A big fudgey and sweet tasting, too. Interesting beer.

Growler, courtesy of SamGamgee. Dark brown with minimal tan head. Nose is marachino cherries, chocolate, kind of a German Black Forest cake. Medium bodied, oily texture, nice sipping beer.

Tap at taproom, paso robles. Almost black color, tanned head. Aroma has lots of cherries, spices, some chocolate. Taste has cherries, chocolate, spices. Literally christmas taste.

Pours dark like a stout. Brown sugar, cherries, some baking spice, baked cookie chocolate, malt flavors. Medium palate, pleasant holiday drink.
