COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Brown Ale.
The first beer brewed for the barrel aging program and has been brewed every year since. Originally named after an experimental variety of hops but now brewed with US grown Fuggles which are earthy and resinous. A lean, simple barley wine brewed to showcase barrel flavors with massive bourbon barrel notes that morph as the beer warms in the glass.

Draught @ Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017 - Red Session
Pours hazy reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long chocolate, cocoa and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle on premise consumption at Farmhouse Tap &Grill, Burlington, VT. Dark brown color, very light lacing. So much to say but going to keep this brief: Oak/ bourbon is a lasting presence without ever becoming overwhelming. Mild vanilla, coconut, nuts. The barrel enhances the base beer without question. Slight warming after the sip. However, the alcohol is very restrained for the over 13%. Pretty exceptional for a brown ale.

Scent of oak barrels and dark berries. The same goes for the taste. Okay bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

From bottle. Pours brown with a tan head. Big dark fruit and bourbon aromas and flavors. Quite sweet. More like a barleywine than a brown. This bottle ought to be shared.

beer-yum (1866) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 6, 2017
Restrained aroma in a brown pour. Huge sweet marzipan malt balance with a rich dried fruit body and finish. Just a hint of alcohol gives one warning before having another.

Mahogany color, small brown head. Sweet aromas with raisins, dried figs, candy sugar, alcohol, wood, bourbon and caramel. Sweet taste with alcohol, wood, bourbon, dried fruits, sugar, syrup, spices and slight toffee. Warming alcoholic finish. Really good, but a bit too much alcohol.

thornecb (6020) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 22, 2017
2017 bottle. Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet caramel, maple, and kirsch aromas. Sweet hot cherries and maple upfront turning to dry, hot maple syrup in the warm, lasting finish.

trapped (3484) - New York, TURKEY - SEP 21, 2017
Draught @ Blind Tiger. Murky reddish brown with very small frothy beige head, wiossy aroma, sweetish caramel malt taste with woodsy flavor, smooth body, long sticky sweet finish. Too sweet for my taste.
