COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Brown Ale.
The first beer brewed for the barrel aging program and has been brewed every year since. Originally named after an experimental variety of hops but now brewed with US grown Fuggles which are earthy and resinous. A lean, simple barley wine brewed to showcase barrel flavors with massive bourbon barrel notes that morph as the beer warms in the glass.

From bottle in Rehobeth at beach house. Pours a hazy chestnut color. Nose is yeasty and alcohol. Taste is loaded with caramel sweetness, some nuttiness, and it lingers on the tongue for a while with some alcohol. Good stuff - though not sure how many I could drink given sweetness (and alcohol content). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. 2017 vintage. Hazy, particle speckled ruby-brown with a short tan head. Aroma is very chocolaty, malty and caramel-laden. Taste is slightly hoppy with big caramel, chewy malt, light chocolate, candy bars, soft booze and chocolate covered nuts. Body is medium with a dense, creamy carbonation. Ends with more caramel, sweet malt, toasted grains, soft hops, booze and chocolate covered nuts.

Dark brown pour with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, caramel and hops. Taste of roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, bourbon and hops. Full bodied, medium carbonation, bourbon masks the true flavors of this beer. I love big beers but the alcohol heat on this was too much.

Bottle. #5000! Dark brown pour. Aroma of delicious bourbon vanilla, oak, ripe fruit, caramel, fudge, raisin, butter and malt. Flavor has thick lucious bourbon vanilla, oak, caramel fudge, raisin, caramelised malt and a really long delicious bourbon finish. Absolutely fantastic, the bourbon really shines. Onward to the next 5k!

Hazy mahagony body with a small beige head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, molasses, vanilla, alcohol, bourbon, wood, coconut notes. Sweet flavor that ends up being slightly more dry and with a trace of bitterness. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and flat to soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
