COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thirty miles north of Barrelworks lies the fertile Santa Maria Valley. Its warm days and cool marine layer-fed evenings allow for a cornucopia of fruits and vegetables to be grown in its rich soil. One of Santa Maria’s crown jewels is locally grown raspberries. We jumped at the opportunity to ferment fresh local raspberries with one of our Barrelworks creations. Behold Bretta Rosé! A low-alcohol Berliner Weisse style ale, acidified and matured in French oak puncheons for 6 months, is the foundation for this gem. Add 1000 lbs. of fresh raspberries, allow a secondary wild fermentation for 4 more months and voila (!), we have a crisp effervescent concoction, bursting with raspberry perfume and flavor, a rosé color, bracing acidity, and a clean and refreshing finish.

Clear offpink pour, fair sized head that fizzes out. Like vely aroma and taste, raspberry, funk, yeast, citrus. Lighter barrel character to this one and it works to perf ction. Lighter body. Could polish a 750 of this solo on a warm afternoon.

375 corked n’ caged bottle- Pours mostly clear rose with an off white head that reduces quickly leaving a blanket. Aroma is strong in brett, raspberries (pulled that out without even reading the description), a bit of funk, tart, jammy. The taste is punget tartness off the bat, fresh picked raspberries, bretty goodness, settles in on a medium high level tartness, smooth through to the finish, a bit of soapy taste comes in in the finish, making me dock the taste one point. Solid sour brett beer.

375 ml bottle via trade, I think. Can’t remember, exactly. Pours a somewhat cloudy reddish color with a finger of slightly tinted white head that settles into a thick ring and thin film, the head leaving some lace in the glass. Notes of rich, deep raspberries, tart and sweet, with florals, vanilla, lemon, blueberries, funk, sour candy, and some acidity throughout. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tart, funky, fruity, effervescent mouthfeel. Really nice and tasty and refreshing. Just what I needed.

Pours a hazy pink from the cork and cage bottle with fluffy off-white head that leaves good lace. Aroma of big raspberry notes and a hint of sour funk. Taste is more balanced, with big funk and oak notes, wow. Crushable if not for the price, huge raspberry notes, acidity builds, amazing.

375 ml corked and caged bottle, thanks brenn79. Aroma is dusty bretty old books, raspberries, almonds, cheese. Pours nearly clear pinkish-red with some sediment floating around underneath a one finger pink-white head with decent retention and a little lace. Taste is sour and acidic (7/10 on a sour scale) with flavors of unsweetened raspberry Kool-Aid; finishes dry and tannic. Foamy, slightly thin mouthfeel. Not bad.
