Imagine yourself in Berlins Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summers day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleons troops called it The champagne of the North. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.5% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisses in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

2015 vintage, sampled at Station House, Forest Hills, Queens. Pours light yellow, minimal head. Aroma is gorgeous tart lemon, cherry, red wine, oak, wheat is mild. Terrific. Flavor is lemon, tart funk, oak, again not much wheat. Wow, that is excellent. Medium to heavy acidity that works well.

Clear light golden with no head whatsoever, and a huge funky lemony wheaty nose, almost like a Berliner but with no brine, all tartness and a herbal bit of funk. Crisp and dry flavor full of tart funky lemon, a semisweet citrus peel tone and a sneaky bit of gentle salt.

Tap at CBM Otemachi. Great aroma. Taste not so exciting for me but still nice. Nice sourness, light Brett funk but more about sourness. Not so much wheat character. Quite dry, little bit of oaky creaminess. Reminiscent of cuvee de ranke, especially in aroma but without the spark in the taste. Quite fruity. Berries. Peaches and cream. Nice.

375 mL bottle shared by Gus. The pour is a bright clear darker golden yellow with no head and no lace to be found. The aroma is excellent. There is a crisp bright tartness and a lovely acidic bit here. Its basic and bright and I love it. The flavor is good also. There is a bright butt puckering. Sourness that is so good. I gleated everywhere on this one. The sour is bright and tart. This is a very basic sour but its very well done. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a great bubbly carbonation and a lingeringly sour finish. This is a really good start to the day.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, and Gus for our mini-share extravaganza. Aroma is funky, tart, citrus, barnyard, wheat, yowza. Appearance is golden, mostly clear, white head. Taste is quite sour, I had a hard butthole pucker. Citrus, funk, wheat, barnyard, dusty, I like it a lot. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, tart wheat aftertaste. Overall, this is solidly the best Berliner Ive had thus far.

500mL shared at Woodshop 10. Clear straw color with high carbonation. Vanilla cake nose, mild yogurt, light pomelo. Taste is medium acid, honey roll, lemon citric bite is forefront. Maybe not enough of that doughiness for me.

Really good balance between tart and funk. Nice malty backbone. Super clean finish.
