COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine yourself in Berlin’s Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summer’s day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleon’s troops called it “The champagne of the North”. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.5% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

Quite pale, has a mellow brett nose, bit vinous. Light body...tastes like rockets. Touch of tartness in the finish. Good but nothing too special.

12oz tulip glass at Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours a slightly hazy pale golden color with a small white head that leaves no lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon with some apple notes. Taste is a lemon tartness with an apple and malty sweetness. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, just an average sour ale, nothing special.

2015 vintage, sampled at Station House, Forest Hills, Queens. Pours light yellow, minimal head. Aroma is gorgeous tart lemon, cherry, red wine, oak, wheat is mild. Terrific. Flavor is lemon, tart funk, oak, again not much wheat. Wow, that is excellent. Medium to heavy acidity that works well.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2017 Slightly hazy golden with A thin white head, and a huge funky lemony wheaty nose, almost like a Berliner but with no brine, all tartness and a herbal bit of funk. Crisp and dry flavor full of tart funky lemon, a semisweet citrus peel tone and a sneaky bit of gentle salt. Crisp and lemony and really delicious and tart and slightly funky.
