22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours copper/ruby with a small, light beige head. Aroma of oak and vanilla, caramel and toffee malts, and a little bit of hops. The oak and malts dominate this beer, with a nice toffee and malty finish. Smooth texture. A good beer, but I feel like it could be better and have more of everything, especially hops. Pours clear dark copper with low white head. Aroma is brilliant! Butterscotch, toffee, oh, fuck it, what else do you need? Taste is equally amazing. A perfect balance between hop bitterness and caramel malt sweetness. Finish is mellow sweet with just the right hint of hop bitter. Body is medium and creamy with low carbonation. A surprising booziness for the style but then the ABV is not exactly typical for the style either. If every ESB was like this, I'd never drink anything else.

Pours amber with low off white head
Aromaa.. MOTHERFUCKER! Butterscotch, dark fruits, loads of caramel malts
Sweet, buttery, full bodied, low bitterness, low corbonation... Doesnt matter. This is perfection! FW is the best brewery around! ansalon (3790) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2013
Appearance is golden amber, extremely nice. Taste is heavenly: molasses, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, oak. Supremely balanced and absolutely sublime.

on tap (FSW tap takeover) @ Livermore Saloon during SF Beer Week. Clear, red, very little head. Smells sweet, caramel, vanilla, bourbon. Taste adds fruit, oak, nuts - although it is sweet, especially up front, light alcohol burn. Medium body, low carbonation makes it drinkable. Good and different but not near my favorite Firestone brews due to the sweetness. Gription79 (2886) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Poured from a bottle at the Beerhive. Bourbon, burnt sugar, malty, raisin, fruity alcohol, big alcohol bomb, very sweet and slightly cloying. Not really getting into this beer. baraciisch (3160) - California, USA - FEB 24, 2013

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2013 Draught at the Paso Robles Taproom. 2012 vintage. Huge barrel nose: oak, strong caramel, some smoke. Glowing dark amber color. Smooth oak whiskey-like hit / mid gives plenty of alc. warmth, along with strong earthy caramel, leather, and sweet pipe tobacco / final has warm alc. traces and more deep oaky malt. Medium-heavy body. Wow! So smooth and warming. Great mouthfeel. An oaked barleywine, but with even more alc. strength. I bought a bottle of this to take home, but I doubt that it will be as good as this fresh tap version.
