Flemish Red inspired Wild Beer: What to do with extra Vienna Malt at the brewery? Why, make a beer with it, of course! And so we did, creating a reddish-brown Flanders inspired beer that receives a generous dose of our "bugs" and allowed a secondary fermentation for 6 months in 2200 gallon French oak foeders. We were not finished. Our creation was transferred to a French oak port barrel and aged a further 6 months. The Vienna Malt shines as part of the beer’s overall complexity. Cinnamon, dried raisins and slight caramel flavors mingle with tart cherries, peaches and some earthy funk. Vanilla and white pepper lurk in the background, and an oak dryness teams up with a firm acidity to create a delicious and quenching beverage. Don’t miss out on this one- it is extremely limited.

a little oakier than some traditional Flemish reds. but otherwise spot on and oh so delicious. near bracing tartness does not take away the complexity at all.

>> Foeder #2. Hazy amber orange pour, wispy white foam. Raspberry tea aroma as it warms, juicy and jammy raspberry piles on, cherry juice and fresh berries. Soft raspberry lemonade taste, refreshing, super clean, medium acidity, lactic focused with citric tang. Biting lime acid mixed with stickier Vienna malt/tea and light oak tannin. Mildly slick body, biting lime acid. Light oak tannin. Berry, cherry aroma. Refreshing. Overall, this is an extremely well done Flemish Red.
