On tap at FW brewpub Venice Beach, CA. Dark chestnut brown with light edges and small head. Nose and taste have earthy dried dark fruit, some lemony tartness, dark bread notes, leather, dark cherry, rye, hints of herbal spice on the tail end.

At first the peppercorn didn’t differentiate this enough from the virtuosa base, but as it opened this became the clear favorite of the two. Not spicy, but imparting another level of flavor and complexity.

(En fût à Firestone Walker Venice): Une base sucré caramélisée qui s’affaisse aussitôt devant une pluie acétique modérée. Un poivre se dissout également dans un jus de petits fruits boisé. Très sec et boisé avec un important dosage épicé.

375mL shared at Woodshop 10. Deep reddish brune pour with healthy off-white foam. Awesome pink peppercorn nose, herbal, sharp ginger. Taste is vinous, citric, tannic, low peppercorn. Huge acid, a tad wooly perhaps from the peppercorn tannins. I think this one has the edge on the regular La Piccola.

Pours a burnt amber color with a short lived fizzy white head. Vinegar, yeast, orange, lemon, clove, oak, peppercorn and funk aroma and flavors. Medium light body and moderate carbonation. Lemon, mild tart and peppercorn finish.

On tap at extreme beer fest 2016. Brown amber color with tan head. Aroma is very earthy pepper, bready, balsamic. Taste is sweetish with a fair amont of tartness and a very off putting earthy maltyness that i didnt get inthe other piccola saison.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2016 Bottle shared, thanks Mark. Heady blend of earthy and herbal spices, black pepper, licorice, wild berries, long funky finish. Wow, I thought Stone Saison was good, well this is dope, a truly outstanding spiced saison.
